Guides › How combat works in Aniimo
What elements are there in Aniimo?
The element roster is unsettled: it is given as nine elements consisting of Light, Dark, Fire, Wind, Water, Ice, Grass, Earth, and Lightning or Electric, as ten with Rock added to that set, and alternatively as nine elements consisting of Holy, Fire, Ice, Dark, Electric, Grass, Water, Rock, and Wind.
This one is not settled.
Both versions are shown because the disagreement is itself information — usually it means the mechanic changed between beta builds.
Defensive matchups depend on your creature's type, while skills decide attack elements.
Exploiting an enemy weakness requires selecting an attack skill of the element the target is weak to, granting a 1.6x damage multiplier. Striking into an elemental resistance reduces damage by a 0.625 modifier. Combat relies on direct matchups from the elemental chart and does not feature elemental chain reactions.
Fire, Water, Ice, Grass, Wind, and Dark are present across every version of the combat system. The remaining slots depend on how the roster classifies lighting and ground affinities.
Alternate names and roster counts
Lightning, Electric, and Electricity describe the same affinity across different lists. Light also appears under the name Holy in nine-element configurations.
The largest conflict is whether the game uses nine or ten affinities. Standard nine-type rosters include either Earth or Rock to cover physical ground skills. A ten-type version splits Ground and Rock into two separate elements alongside Ice, Water, Electric, Fire, Grass, Wind, Dark, and Light.
Not settled: The total element count remains unsettled between nine and ten types, depending on whether Rock and Ground exist as separate affinities.
