Alternate Forms: Regional, Weather and Night-Only Variants
Aniimo species do not come in one shape. Region, time of day, weather, eggs and side quests all produce different versions of the same creature, and a species entry is not finished until you have hunted them down.
The short version
- Regional variants have unique appearances and may carry different moves and types depending on where you find them.
- Some forms only appear at night. Others only appear in specific weather such as rain or thunderstorms.
- Weather is not purely luck. Branch upgrades can unlock the ability to change it, and specific weather can trigger Prismana spawns in certain locations.

- Side quests unlock alternate forms and secret evolutions, so some versions of a creature are never found in the wild at all.

Catching one of each species is the easy part of Aniimo. The hard part is that a species is not one creature. Creatures have multiple forms, they evolve, and they have rare variants, and some of those variants carry dual elements or different typings from the base form.
That means your collection goals stretch well past the first catch. Better potential, different traits, sparkling versions, alternate forms and Prismana forms are all separate targets on the same species. Sparkling Aniimo are the rare alternate-color variants, the shiny equivalent.
This guide sorts the forms by how you actually get them: by where you are, by when and in what weather you play, and by content you have to unlock. Everything below comes from beta footage, so treat the exact behaviour as build-dependent where the game itself is still moving.
Where you catch it changes what you catch
Regional variants feature unique appearances, and they may have different moves and types depending on their location. That last part is what makes them worth chasing rather than just photographing. A regional variant is not a recolour with a new sprite. It can be a functionally different creature in a fight.
Location is one of three levers the game pulls on spawns. Creature spawns and appearances are influenced by location, time of day and weather. So the same patch of map at two different hours in two different weather states is effectively three different hunting grounds. If a form is missing from your entry, the first question is not whether you have caught enough. It is whether you have caught in enough conditions.
Night forms, rain forms, thunderstorm forms
Certain Aniimo forms appear exclusively during night conditions. Others appear exclusively during specific weather such as rain or thunderstorms. These are separate systems from Prismana variants, and Aniimo can have weather-based forms alongside other variations entirely independent of them.
Waiting for weather is miserable, so it helps that you do not always have to. Branch upgrades can unlock the ability to change the weather, and Nurturing also lets you change it. Once you have that, a rain-only form stops being a matter of patience and starts being a matter of showing up at the right place and turning the rain on.
One more capture note that pairs well with night hunting: Aniimo can be captured while they are sleeping.
Prismana and what makes them different
A Prismana is an empowered alternate form of a Nova-stage creature, and it remains the same species. It is not a new entry. It is the same creature turned up, and it can possess different typings and move sets from its base form.
Getting one is where the weather lever pays off twice. Specific weather conditions can trigger Prismana spawns in certain locations, so weather control turns a rare encounter into something you can set up deliberately. Nurturing also aids in capturing Prismana once you have found one. Between the two, Prismana hunting is the most systematic form of variant hunting in the game.

Forms you unlock rather than find
Not every form is out there waiting in the world. Certain side quests unlock alternate forms and secret evolutions. If a creature seems to have a version you have never seen spawn, the answer may be sitting in a quest log rather than a biome.
Dark forms of Aniimo, including Darklers and the Umbrabow form, are obtained exclusively through Egg Heist. Egg Heist holds exclusive rare eggs and forms that cannot be obtained anywhere else in the game, and currency accumulated there can also be exchanged directly for an Umbrabow egg. That exchange matters, because it means the Umbrabow form has a guaranteed path rather than a purely random one.
Unique forms introduced in the battle pass are a different case. Developers have confirmed those will later be obtainable in-game, so missing a pass does not permanently close a species entry.

Check before you register or release
All of this collapses into one habit at camp. Before you register or release an Aniimo, inspect its Alpha status, whether it is a weather or special form, and its potential grade.
The reason is straightforward. A creature can look ordinary and be a form you have spent hours trying to trigger, and releasing it costs you the conditions you set up to get it. Since better potential, different traits, sparkling versions, alternate forms and Prismana forms are all things you are collecting anyway, the same inspection tells you whether the catch in front of you closes a gap or duplicates one you already filled.

Before you register or release anything at camp, check three things: Alpha status, whether it is a weather or special form, and its potential grade. That one habit is what separates a species entry that is finished from one you have to redo.
