Can players grow crops in a personal area?

Crops are one job the homeland does, not the whole of it. The same space is where you construct and furnish houses, decorate your rooms, and keep the Aniimo you have collected. Planting is folded into that rather than sitting off in a separate farming minigame, so a garden plot is a thing you lay out next to your buildings and decorations.

The useful way to think about it is that the base is both a sanctuary and a production facility. The sanctuary half is the part you build and decorate for its own sake. The production half is what makes the space pay you back, and crops are the most direct form of that.

Aniimo can farm for you

Collected Aniimo do not just live at the homeland as trophies. You can assign them to farm resources, which turns the housing side of the base into an output of its own. That is worth knowing before you start filling the space, because every Aniimo you bring home is a potential worker as well as a resident.

Getting there from your campsite

You do not walk to your homeland from the open world. Every Pathfinder gets a personal, customizable recreational vehicle as part of the homeland system, a mobile home base parked at an open-world campsite that acts as your headquarters, and inside it is a portal that connects to your homeland area.

The campsite is also a multiplayer social space, so the vehicle sits in a place other players pass through while the homeland behind the portal is yours. If you want to check on your plants, you go back to the vehicle and through the portal.

Not settled: Which crops you can plant, how long they take, and what the harvest is actually spent on are not pinned down yet.
