Can traps be used to catch Aniimo?

Traps can be set in the terrain to assist in catching Aniimo.

That makes catching a thing you prepare rather than a thing you react to. A trap goes into the ground, so you are choosing a patch of terrain before the Aniimo is anywhere near it, then working out how to get the creature there. Aniipods, the throwable capture device, are the other half of the kit. Traps are the half you place in advance.

They assist a catch rather than complete one, which means they stack with the rest of what you do on the approach. Coming at a wild Aniimo from behind gives you a backstep catch bonus, and nothing about laying a trap stops you also sneaking. The setup and the approach are separate things you can get right.

One restriction is worth planning around. Wild Alpha Aniimo are not catchable at all until you have defeated them in combat, so a trap laid for an Alpha does nothing while the fight is still on. Against Alphas the trap is something you want ready for after the fight, not before it.

Not settled: How much a trap actually shifts a catch, and whether it replaces an Aniipod throw or only improves one, is not settled.
