Do Sanctums require co-op?

You will encounter overworld Sanctums that cannot be entered without forming a party first. While Aniimo is primarily designed as a solo experience, its multiplayer features operate on an activity-based structure rather than a persistently shared open world.

These locations are reward-granting puzzle mini-dungeons tied directly to your world progression. Reaching the chest at the end requires clearing puzzle rooms that demand multiple Pathfinders, which stops solo players from finishing that portion of world progression until they group up.

Co-op Tools and Restrictions

Entering a Sanctum restricts your party to select Aniimo to work through the puzzles inside.

While exploring together, companion mode projects a visual tether between co-op players to keep you from separating. You can coordinate puzzle steps through built-in voice chat, which is enabled across the open world as well as inside activities.

Not settled: Sanctum formats remain unsettled in the beta, which includes solo layouts, partner-required rooms, timed variants, and cooperative puzzles requiring teamwork.
