Guides › Is Aniimo an MMO? Shared hubs vs invite-only worlds

Does Aniimo have co-op multiplayer?

Aniimo supports cooperative multiplayer PvE gameplay, including two-player and team co-op.

Co-op runs through your own world: as host, your main world becomes a private instance, and the friends you invite explore and catch creatures in it alongside you. Nobody wanders in uninvited.

Once you and another player become Companions, a trail of butterflies links the two of you and shows how far apart you are. On an open map that is the difference between travelling together and spending ten minutes finding each other again.

The game is free-to-play with no upfront purchase on any supported platform, so a friend can join you without buying anything first. PvP exists as well, separate from the co-op content.

Content built for more than one player

Some of the game expects company. The massive bosses are designed to be fought in groups, and certain Sanctum puzzle dungeons will not let you in without a party of at least two players. If you play alone, those Sanctums stay shut until you bring someone.

Version 1.1 added Holo-Battle Interlink, a weekly raid-boss mode for four players. Friends team up to break the boss together, and Pathfinder challenge rematches work the same way.

Not settled: Whether Holo-Battle Interlink can be cleared solo is not settled. It is described both as filling empty slots with AI teammates, at the cost of lower damage and fewer rewards, and as needing other players.
