Does Aniimo have a rune system?

The rune artifact system was removed prior to the final game release.

◇verified at launch · Sept 2026

Runes were a beta feature, and they worked through the Carried Item your Aniimo holds. Each item could roll rune slots, and you socketed runes into them. The top end was the Legendary Rune, exceptionally rare, and it gave superior stats including large damage increases. That whole layer is gone from the 16 September 2026 launch build, not reduced or rebalanced.

The part worth understanding is the word randomized. Rune slots rolled, which meant two copies of the same carried item were not the same item, and chasing a good roll was a thing you did. Removing the system took the rolling with it. Carried items no longer generate rune slots at all, so an item you pick up is the item, with nothing further to gamble on.

What this means for building power

If you came to Aniimo expecting a socket-and-grind stat chase on top of your team, plan around its absence. There is no Legendary Rune to hunt, and no reason to hoard duplicate carried items hoping for better slots.

It also fits the shape of the rest of the game. Aniimo has no creature gacha, no character banners, and no creature loot boxes. The randomized rune roll was the one remaining place where power came out of a random pull, and it did not survive to release.

Not settled: Carried items themselves are still in the game. What fills the stat-boosting role runes used to cover is not spelled out by the removal itself.
