Guides › Egg Heist maps: egg nests, blue key rooms and routes
How do you tell which Egg Heist map you're on?
The current Egg Heist map can be identified on loading in, without entering the blue door, from the position of the blue door relative to the orange and yellow doors.
The doors you spawn beside are the tell, so you can read the map before you spend a key or take a step. Look at where the blue door sits, then check where the yellow door is in relation to it, with the orange door as your third reference point. That arrangement differs between the seven Egg Heist maps, and the same set of maps is used across modes including Nightmare and Chaos.
If you have already gone through the orange door, you can still read it there: the direction the blue door faces from that side also identifies the layout.
## What knowing the map gets you
Each map has two locked rooms behind blue key doors, and eggs only spawn at fixed nest positions in specific room types such as large rooms and those locked key rooms. In a Chaos run almost no eggs lie in the open, so the locked rooms are effectively where the eggs are. Once you know the map, you can head straight for the keys, the nests and the chests instead of wandering. If you need a blue key, you can bring one from your inventory or buy one before the run.
Community map tools, including the Lost Sanctum Maps section of Aniimo Tools, show each layout with its egg and key positions, so once you know which map you are on you can check the route against one of them.
