How trading and player Affinity work in Aniimo
Affinity decides what you can trade, it is tracked one friend at a time, and the only way it goes up is by playing with people.
The short version
- Aniimo trading happens in social meeting areas, with the other player there with you.
- Affinity is tracked separately for each friend, and higher Affinity widens the variety of Aniimo the two of you can trade.
- Ordinary play raises it: chatting, meeting up in the world, fighting alongside each other, trading, gifting and visiting a friend's Home.
- Gift boxes can reward the recipient with an Aniimo egg, which hatches at a Hatchinator.
- Exchanging messages with friends grants 10 event points, up to a daily limit of 30 points.
- Aniimo sealed during the Bond Pact event and hatched at global launch are bound to your account permanently.
Aniimo trading is not a menu you open on your own. You do it with another player, in a social meeting area, and what you are allowed to hand over depends on how well the game reckons the two of you know each other.
That second part is Affinity. It is tracked per friend, it climbs through normal play together, and it is the gate on how wide your trade options get. Trading and gifting also carry costs and limitations, so neither is free.
And some Aniimo are never going anywhere, no matter who you ask.
Where Aniimo trading happens, and what stays put
You trade Aniimo with other players in social meeting areas. That is the venue, so a trade is something you arrange with a person who is present rather than something you list and walk away from. Both trading and gifting are subject to costs and limitations, so budget for them instead of assuming a swap is free.
Some creatures are out of the system entirely. Aniimo sealed during the Bond Pact event and hatched at global launch are permanently bound to your account. They cannot be traded or exchanged with other Pathfinders, and no amount of Affinity changes that. If someone offers you one, they are mistaken about what they own.
Stays on your account
- Aniimo sealed during the Bond Pact event and hatched at global launch.
- Permanently bound to the player's account.
- Cannot be traded or exchanged with other Pathfinders.
Can change hands
- Traded with other players in social meeting areas.
- Subject to certain costs and limitations.
- The range of tradeable Aniimo widens as Affinity with that friend rises.
Affinity is built with one friend at a time
Affinity is a per-friend level. You hold a separate one with every player you spend time with, so raising it high with one person does nothing for your trades with anybody else.
It rises through ordinary play together, not through a dedicated grind. Chatting counts. Meeting up in the world counts. Teaming up and fighting alongside each other counts. So do trading Aniimo, giving gifts, and visiting a friend's Home. If you are already playing with someone regularly, the level is going up without you managing it.
What it buys you is range. Higher Affinity widens the variety of Aniimo that can be traded between you. Notice the loop in that: trading is itself one of the things that raises Affinity, so every swap you make with a regular partner opens the door a little wider for the next one. A brand new contact is the most restricted person on your list, and there is no shortcut past that except playing together.
Gift boxes can hold an egg
Players can send each other gift boxes. Some of those boxes reward the recipient with an Aniimo egg, which you take to a Hatchinator to open. That makes a gift from a friend a genuine route to a new creature rather than a courtesy.
Giving gifts is also one of the actions that raises Affinity, so sending a box does two jobs at once. It is a present, and it is progress on the level that governs what the two of you can trade later. The costs and limitations on gifting still apply, so it is a habit to keep up rather than a lever to spam.
The daily message round
Exchanging messages with friends grants 10 event points, up to a daily limit of 30 points. Messaging also renews the spark, and grants up to 30 event sparks per day.
The cap is the whole shape of this. It is a short daily habit, not something you can sit and farm, and you reach the ceiling well before you run out of friends to write to. Do the round, collect, and go and play.
Chatting is also on the list of things that build Affinity, so the same few minutes that top up your points are quietly widening what you and that person can trade.

The web events behave differently
The web events attached to Aniimo do not follow the same rules as trading in the game, and one of them has a rough edge worth knowing before you use it.
In the "Time to Aniimo!" web event, no on-screen notification confirms that an Aniimo exchange has gone through. Nothing appears to tell you it worked. Do not read that silence as failure, and do not go looking for a confirmation that is never going to show up.
The pre-launch Aniimo Together web event ran on the same sort of footing: completing a six-member squad there awarded an Anapod Ultra, credits and evolution stones.
Where to start
Pick the friends you actually want to trade with and play with them normally. Affinity is the gate on trade variety, ordinary play is what raises it, and the daily message round costs you almost nothing. Just remember that Bond Pact Aniimo are staying with you whatever your Affinity says.
