Guides › How combat works in Aniimo
Can Aniimo learn new skills?
Aniimo can learn additional active and passive skills beyond those shown by default.
The default list on an Aniimo's page is not the whole kit, so judge a creature on what it can learn too. Both kinds of skill can be added: active skills you trigger in a fight, and passives that work in the background.
You check all of this from the star icon tab on the Aniimo's page. Its skills, abilities and passives sit together there, so that tab is where you compare what a creature has now against what it could have.
What extra skills mean in a fight
Every active skill has its own cooldown, so adding active skills gives you more to use between waits rather than more uses of the same move. Some skills are aimed. Hold down a ground-targeted skill, such as Lunara's or Leaping Sparks, and a reticle comes up so you can place the area.
When you Twine with an Aniimo, you control its skills and cooldowns yourself instead of leaving them to the AI. A creature with a fuller skill list gives you more to work with in that form.
Aniimo skills versus Pathfinder skills
Your Pathfinder has a separate skill tree, also split into active and passive skills. It grows independently of your Aniimo. Unlocking something on the tree does not add it to a creature, and a creature's skills do not appear on your tree.
Not settled: How an Aniimo unlocks its additional skills, and which skills are the best picks for creatures such as Lunara or Fulmintis, is not established yet.
