Do you need an Anipod to hatch eggs?

Hatching an egg requires an Anipod, which must be selected first.

Basic Anicubes work for eggs that already guarantee perfect class or potential.

Using an Ultra Pod or Ultra Cube on Umbral eggs, or on eggs that already guarantee Elite rarity or Perfect potential, provides no additional benefit. The basic device hatches the guaranteed creature without consuming rarer equipment.

Pod selection matters when aiming for cosmetic variants or potential upgrades on standard eggs. Hatching a non-Umbral egg with a Sparkling Cube provides a 1% chance to yield a dazzling sparkling style. Using a Sparkling Cube on a Prismana egg can trigger a shadow sparkling mutation.

Not settled: Whether higher-tier pods guarantee fixed potential or variants when hatching is not settled. An Ultra Anipod is treated variously as guaranteeing a minimum of Epic potential, ensuring Elite acquired potential, or merely granting a chance at Elite potential. A Sparkling Cube is similarly described both as guaranteeing the Sparkling variant during incubation and as only offering a chance of hatching one.
