Does Holo-Battle Interlink have matchmaking?

Holo-Battle Interlink uses team matchmaking and can be played with random players, and Phase 2 can be completed with randomly matched party members.

Holo-Battle Interlink is a four-player mode, so a random queue fills three seats that you would otherwise have to fill yourself. The point of the team is to break the boss together, and you can bring friends instead of strangers. Pathfinder challenge rematches work the same way.

If you would rather not rely on strangers, you can invite friends, or players you recently ran into, straight into your party. Setting that up is covered in the linked guide on adding friends and teaming up.

You do not need a top damage dealer to be useful in a matched group. If your best attacker is weak or under-leveled (under 3000 CP, for example), bring a support or breaker Aniimo and help the team break the boss instead.

Why a human team beats the AI fill

AI teammates are a poor substitute in the harder fights. In the Minespine (Alpha Mines) Holo Interlink fight they usually die by the 1:30 mark, and they also struggle against Alpha Scorch, where they hold up noticeably worse than they do against Alpha Luminel. For those bosses, queueing for random players or bringing friends is the safer way through Phase 2.

Not settled: Whether Holo-Battle Interlink can be finished fully solo is not settled. One version has AI filling the empty slots at the cost of lower damage and fewer rewards, and the other requires other players to start at all.
