Multiplayer and Co-op
Parties cap at four, everyone must pick the same server, and one opened chest pays out to the whole group. Here is how co-op works and what you share.
The short version
- A co-op party in Aniimo holds a maximum of four players, and you only join someone by accepting their invite into an empty party slot.
- Everyone in a party must select the same regional server (NA, EU or APAC); cross-play works across platforms, but data on different servers stays separate.
- When one player opens a treasure chest in co-op, including inside Sanctums, the other nearby players who have not opened it yet are rewarded too.
- Idyll is not filled with other players; you only see people you invite, or meet them in shared hubs such as Astra city, outposts, campfires and RV parks.
- PvP is not available: Egg Heist runs in PvE only, and no PvP release date has been announced.
Aniimo has online co-op. You can team up to explore the open world, trade Aniimo, and take on boss battles, alpha encounters and other shared activities. What it does not have is a busy open world full of strangers. Co-op works by invitation, and most of what you do with other people happens in activities or in a handful of shared hubs.
This guide covers how to set up an Aniimo party, the server rule that trips people up, what actually gets shared once you are playing together, and how friendship levels feed into trading.
Setting up an Aniimo party
Open the party menu from the main menu. The party creation button sits in the bottom-right corner. As host, you pick a friend for an empty party slot, and once they accept, they join your world.
A cooperative party holds a maximum of four players. Together you can explore the open world, solve puzzles and fight bosses.
There is no offline mode. Aniimo, including Aniimo Mobile, needs a constant, active internet connection, so you are online even when you play solo.

Maximum co-op party size
Servers, cross-play and cross-save
Aniimo has three regional servers: Aniimo-America (NA), Aniimo-Europe (EU) and Aniimo-APAC (Asia-Pacific). You select the region before starting, and this is the choice that matters most for co-op. Players who want to play together must all select the same server.
Platform is less of a barrier. Aniimo supports crossplay, so players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox can play together, and cross-platform co-op is listed for the Xbox version. Cross-save covers PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and mobile. Your progress is shared when you log into the same Aniimo Pass account on the same server, with accounts linked through the same email address and a PSN account linked on PlayStation.
The catch is the server again. Data on different servers stays independent. If your friends are on EU and you started on NA, your NA progress does not come with you.
Where you actually see other players
Multiplayer is mainly activity-based. The continent of Idyll is not populated by other players unless they are invited into the host's world. You will not stumble across strangers while exploring.
Shared hubs are the exception. Astra city, outposts, campfires and RV parks let players meet, which makes them the natural place to find people outside your friends list.
What a party shares
The most useful co-op rule involves chests. When one player opens a treasure chest in co-op, the other nearby players in the session who have not opened it yet are rewarded as well. This includes chests inside Sanctums, so clearing one as a group pays everyone.
Gathering is shared too. In companion mode, party members collect items such as dirt piles and tree trunks on each other's behalf, and that works for players who are not the world host.
Homeland visits have their own payoffs. Visiting players who till, harvest or otherwise help with soil at another player's Homeland receive a portion of that player's crop harvest. Friends visiting your Homeland can also pet (Caress) an egg in the Hatchinator, which cuts its remaining incubation time by 10 minutes, up to a maximum limit.
Some creature abilities scale with company. Gracewing's healing fields stack across multiple players, so four players stacking Wind of Rejuvenation heal more than a Glacy.
Matchmade activities and Egg Heist
Not every group activity needs friends. Holo-Battle Interlink uses team matchmaking and can be played with random players, and Phase 2 can be completed with randomly matched party members. In a matchmade group, the party leader is the first player, and they select the Special Offering. That buff applies to the whole party. Joining someone else's team and helping improve their star ranks earns you support rewards.
Holograffiti co-op battles can be filled with AI teammates if you are short of people, and the Alpha Luminel fight can be cleared for 15 stars with them.
Diamond Egg Heist is the largest shared map: up to six three-player teams, 18 players in total. Do not expect to fight them, though. PvP is not currently available. Only the PvE mode of Egg Heist can be played, and no PvP release date has been announced.

Friendship levels and trading
Trading with another player is tied to friendship, called Affinity. Higher Affinity levels unlock privileges, including Aniimo trading, and widen the variety of Aniimo you can trade.
Sending gifts is the easiest way to raise friendship level. A Gift of Celebration awards 99 affinity. Messaging friends helps in a smaller way: each exchange renews the spark and grants 10 event points (sparks, shown as fire bolts), up to a daily limit of 30.
Where to start
Agree on a server with your friends before anyone starts, because progress does not cross servers. Then party up as four, have one person open chests for the group, and send gifts early so trading opens up.
