Can you use traps to catch Aniimo?
Traps can be set in the terrain, such as in a wild Aniimo's path, to increase the likelihood of capturing it.
A trap raises your odds, but you still have to land the Aniipod and the catch can still fail. The capture UI shows the exact success chance when you aim, and any throw under 100% can break free after the pod shakes. So check the number after the trap has done its work, not before.
Traps fit the stealth side of catching, so the rest of your approach should keep you out of sight. If the Aniimo spots you and engages, its capture rate drops. Staying undetected raises it, and throwing from behind adds a back attack bonus that greatly increases the catch rate. Sleeping Aniimo are much easier still. Thrown decoys such as duckies are a separate tool: they attract and distract nearby Aniimo, which helps you get into position.
If the Aniimo is too tough for a trap and a sneak throw to be enough, weaken it in battle instead. Lowering its HP or breaking it pushes the odds far higher, and a break raises the capture rate above 90 percent. Higher tier Aniipods also help with difficult captures.
