How do you catch Alpha Aniimo?

Alpha Aniimo are obtained by finding them in the wild, fighting them and catching them, though the catch only succeeds by chance.

You cannot throw at an Alpha the moment you see it. The fight comes first, and the catch happens once it is beaten. Alphas are larger and stronger than the standard version of their species and usually already evolved, so bring a team ready for a proper boss fight rather than a routine capture.

There are 17 Alpha bosses in the game. Some are easy to reach and some are guarded. Alpha Bouldus can be encountered and captured directly out in the wild. Alpha Tubster sits in the Argent Strait, below Omega Tukin, with no access requirements at all.

A first win against any Alpha awards an Irisalis petal without spending energy, and Alphas respawn after defeat. If a catch goes wrong, you can come back and fight it again.

Aniimo Alpha Stellarys and Alpha Minespine

Alpha Stellarys is a level 18 Dark-type Alpha shown on the map, in a field south of the Forest of Falling Stars. Beating it drops Night Stones, and catching it is a way to get Stellarys early.

Alpha Minespine is level 60 and hidden. Its cave is in the mountains west of the Beast Fang Ridge teleport, with the entrance at the edge of a cliff. To get in, use Gravity Pull to move explosive barrels onto the dense dark rock and blow it up.

Alpha Sparkling Prismana is the exception. It is one of the rarest combinations and is built up in stages, so you will not find one waiting in the wild.

Are Alpha Aniimo better once caught?

The size carries over. An Alpha stays visibly larger than standard members of its species, and you can see this when you untwine one too. The stats do not. Being an Alpha grants no higher base stats and no guaranteed high Potential, because Potential is rolled at the moment of capture. An Alpha can come out above or below the standard for its species, so catching one is a roll like any other.

Not settled: Alphas respawn, so a failed catch can be retried. It is not settled yet whether repeat Alpha boss fights are unlimited or capped by daily energy.
