Can Fire Aniimo burn obstacles?
Fire-type Aniimo have a field ability that burns obstacles such as wooden barriers and trees blocking paths and activates fire-based environmental puzzles, which many world puzzles require.
Vines count too, so a path choked with growth is a fire job as much as a wooden barrier is. If a route through the world is blocked by wood, trees or vines, the fix is usually to bring a Fire Aniimo rather than to look for a way around.
Charcoal Dog is the standard example. Its fire-breathing skill is what clears the vine puzzles that call for something that can burn, so it earns a place on your team for exploration even before you think about fights.
Fire forms in general can burn through environmental barriers, and many world puzzles are built around that. A team with no Fire Aniimo will hit walls it cannot pass.
Ice and fire in battle
The same type pulls its weight in combat. Fire attacks and Fire-type Aniimo deal 1.6 times damage against Grass and Ice types, so the Aniimo you carry for burning obstacles is also your answer to Ice opponents. Spark Elf's core skill, Inspiration, raises the team's fire damage by 16% if you want to lean into it.
