What are Sanctums in Aniimo?

Sanctums are instanced, reward-granting exploration shrines and puzzle mini-dungeons tied to world progression, in which players are restricted to twining with select Aniimo to solve a series of environmental puzzles and claim a chest at the end, and their format is unsettled: they are described both as cooperative dungeons requiring teamwork and as coming in solo, partner-required, and timed variants.

Twining restrictions prevent you from relying on your standard party lineup. To clear the environmental obstacles inside these mini-dungeons, you must twine specifically with designated Aniimo chosen for that location. The puzzles are built around the capabilities of those select creatures, making creature choice non-negotiable.

These exploration shrines are scattered across the world and tied directly to world progression. Entering one puts you in an instanced dungeon challenge where you must work through a succession of puzzle rooms. Reaching the final chamber unlocks a chest that grants rewards for completing the run.

Dungeon Variants and Teamwork

Structure and entry requirements vary across different sanctums found in the world. Some shrines allow solo exploration, letting an individual player work through the puzzle rooms alone. Other sanctums are cooperative puzzle dungeons requiring teamwork, where progress cannot be made without a partner to help solve coordinated mechanics.

Certain sanctums also feature timed challenges. In those runs, the puzzles must be completed before the clock expires to secure the chest.

Not settled: The exact format of sanctums remains unsettled, with the game describing them both as cooperative dungeons requiring teamwork and as having separate solo, timed, and partner variants.
