Guides › Title Promotion and creature level caps in Aniimo
Do chests give XP in Aniimo?
Treasure chests found across the open world contain experience gems.
Chests also hold Anipods, so opening them feeds both your levelling and your catching. Anipods turn up lying on the ground too, but a chest gives you experience gems and capture gear from one stop.
Levels count for more than they first appear to. Fights get significantly harder when your Aniimo are underleveled, because enemies gain damage multipliers and resistances. An Aniimo may also need to level up before you can train its stats or resonance, so gems from chests are what let you start that training.
Earning XP alongside chests
Chests are not the only source. Capturing Aniimo grants player experience, and the first capture of a new species in each area pays bonus XP. When you reach a new area, catch everything you have not caught there yet and open the chests along the way.
The early milestone to aim for is Irisalis. Its content needs player level 20 and rank Student 1.
