When should you use Vein Essence?

The weekend bonus adds 50% to the prismatic energy you gain from nurturing blooms, but only on three Nurture attempts per event. Vein Abundance surges, such as the Forest of Falling Stars event, repeat every week from Friday to Sunday, so there is always another one coming. An attempt spent on a Tuesday is an attempt that earned less than it would have a few days later.

Free nurtures refill at one per day at 4:00 AM and bank up to a maximum of three. Let them build to that cap going into Friday, so the bonus lands on attempts that cost you nothing. Once the free ones are gone, each extra attempt costs currency, Vein Essence among it. Spend the free nurtures first and only then reach for essence.

Adding essence to a region's care also has a small chance, around 3%, to surge prismatic energy to full and trigger a Prismana flow on the spot. That is a reason to spend essence where the payoff is largest, not a reason to spend it often.

When you do not need it at all

Farming Prismana, Prismana Melloblum included, with a team built around Tubster needs few resources and no Vein Essence. If that is your goal, you can leave your essence stockpiled for surge weekends and still farm steadily during the week.

Keeping a supply for the weekend

The Windborne Stamp Shop sells 10 Vein Essence per week for stamps, which makes it the fastest source this season. Its stock resets weekly and anything you skip is lost, so buy it every week even if you are saving. Beyond that, essence comes from open-world gathering, Elite Training, catch milestones, Nurture Branches, Holo Battle Interlinks, the battle pass and delivering Lumin Amber to the Branch. Elite Training turn-ins are an unreliable source of it.

The Mysterious Vendor in Astra occasionally stocks Vein Essence too, but its credit price for a pair is not settled, so check what it is asking before you count on it.

Not settled: How many nurture attempts you get each day, free and paid, is not settled, so the exact number you can bank beyond the three free charges is unclear.
