Where do you find Irisalis Petals?

Only eight petals sit in the open world for good, and one of them is behind a barrier.

That barrier is a force field around one petal's area, and it only comes down when you finish the main story at the level 50 story quest. Until then you can collect seven of the eight. The gathering petal task shows a photo of each location to visit, so match the view to the place rather than sweeping the map.

The game calls them Irisalis Petals and Iris Petals in different places. They are the same item. Collecting enough of them reaches milestones that unlock rewards, including the legendary Irisalis encounter, which is why most people come looking for them.

How to get Irisalis Petals beyond the map

Eight map pickups will not get you far, and collecting from permanent sources alone is slow. The Legendary Journey event screen has a built-in 'How to obtain' section listing the remaining ways to get them, and some sources sit under a permanent section of the event.

The main ones: your first defeat of each Alpha Aniimo, Alpha Minespine included, awards a petal without consuming energy. A region's silver collection badge, earned at 70% collection progress in that zone, pays out Iris Petals alongside Vein Essences. Elite Pathfinder Challenges award a few, though only a small share of the total. Journey quests in the Windchasers Departure event give them too, but not every quest does.

Petals keep coming through the season from normal progression, permanent objectives, weekly rotations and the shop, including after the event is completed.

Not settled: Which source gives most of the petals is still open. Weekly tasks, permanent rewards from the story and exploration, and the stamp and event shops all compete for that title. Whether repeat Alpha boss fights keep paying out without limit or are capped by daily energy is also not settled.
