Irisalis Petal locations, Alpha clears and silver badges

Eight petals sit in the open world, one behind a barrier that only the level 50 story quest removes. The rest come from Alpha first clears, silver badges and shops.

The short version

  1. Only eight Irisalis Petals are permanently placed in the open world, and one of them is behind a barrier that disappears when you finish the main story at the level 50 story quest.
  2. Your first win against each Alpha Aniimo, Alpha Minespine included, gives an Irisalis Petal and costs no energy.
  3. A region's silver collection badge needs 70% capture progress there. It pays out Iris Petals and Vein Essences, and in Beast Fang Ridge you also have to beat Alpha Scorchhowl.
  4. Branch Nurturing gives three petals for every level of the main branch, and each Prismana Aniimo you obtain is worth one petal.
  5. The 'How to obtain' button in the bottom left of the event menu lists every petal source and location. Check it before you go hunting.

Irisalis Petals, also called Iris Petals, are what you spend on Irisalis. You craft them in the event menu into legendary Aniipods. The first is the Irisalis Aniipod (also written Iris Solis, and shown as an Irisalis cube), which summons and captures Irisalis. With more petals you can craft Wind Chaser's Departure. Collecting enough of them also reaches milestones that unlock rewards, and the legendary Irisalis encounter is one of those rewards.

The capture itself has its own guide. This page is about getting the petals in the first place. They are slow to collect, and slower still if you only use permanent sources, so you want every source you can find.

That covers more than the eight petals on the map. Alpha Aniimo first clears, silver collection badges, journey quests, Branch Nurturing, the Faded Rainbow and the shops all give petals.

Use the event menu as your checklist

Start in the event menu. In the bottom left there is a 'How to obtain' button that lists every Irisalis petal source and every location, and it includes a Permanent category. The Legendary Journey event screen has the same built-in 'How to obtain' section, listing the ways you still have left to get Iris Petals.

The Legendary Journey tab on the events page tracks your progress. It shows how many Iris Petals you have and what you still need. Check it after each session so you know which sources you have used up.

You are not up against a deadline. Petals keep coming throughout the season from normal progression, permanent objectives, weekly rotations and the shop, and that continues after you have completed the event. Some sources are permanent and are listed under the event's permanent section.

The eight world petals and the barrier

Only eight collectable Irisalis Petals are permanently placed across the open world map. The event menu shows where they are, and the gathering petal task shows a photo of each location you need to visit. Compare the photo with your surroundings when you are close and you won't spend long searching.

Two of them need more effort. One is right at the top of a mountain, so you have to climb all the way up.

The other is in an area blocked by a barrier or force field, and you cannot get to it early. The barrier comes down when you complete the main story at the level 50 story quest. Until then it is the one world petal you will see on the list and not be able to collect, so leave it and come back after the story.

Irisalis Petals placed in the open world

Only eight collectable petals sit permanently on the map, and one of them is behind a barrier that stays until the level 50 main story quest.

Alpha Aniimo first clears

Alpha Aniimo are a reliable source. The first time you defeat each one, Alpha Minespine included, you get an Irisalis petal, and that first win costs no energy. Make a habit of fighting every new Alpha you come across.

Alpha bosses respawn after you beat them, and you can fight them again to farm items such as held items and Irisalis petals. Alpha Rookie challenges can be repeated as often as you like. Whether Alpha boss fights are unlimited or capped by daily energy is not settled yet, so don't plan your petal count around repeat boss runs. Finding and fighting Alphas is covered in its own guide.

Silver badges, Prismana and Pathfinder challenges

Regional collection badges pay out as you make progress, and the silver badge rewards include Iris petals and Vein Essences. To get a region's silver collection badge you need 70% capture progress in that region. Beast Fang Ridge asks for more: you also have to defeat Alpha Scorchhowl. That fight is a first clear too, so it also counts towards your Alpha petals.

Every Prismana Aniimo you obtain gives you one Iris Petal. Catching them adds to your petal count.

Elite Pathfinder Challenges also award Iris Petals, but they make up only a small part of the total. Do them when you are nearby. They are not worth a special trip.

70%

Capture progress for a silver badge

A region's silver collection badge needs 70% capture progress there and awards Iris petals. In Beast Fang Ridge you also have to defeat Alpha Scorchhowl.

Story, journeys, Branch Nurturing, the Faded Rainbow and shops

Iris Petals come from progressing through the journey quests of the Windchasers Departure event, but not every journey quest gives one. They also come from the main story, side stories, exploration including Breezy Plains, a gather task for collecting items around the world, and as permanent rewards for working through the event's permanent tab. Some of those are handed out at random as you play.

Branch Nurturing is worth targeting on purpose. When you level up the Branch Nurture tree by infusing Lumin Amber, you get three petals for each Branch Nurture level of the main branch. You can also earn petals by fighting Irisalis at the Faded Rainbow, and there is a weekly-limited source as well.

The stamp shop and event shop sell petals too. Which source provides most of your petals is not settled. In one version the bulk comes from the permanent rewards listed above. In the other it comes mainly from the stamp shop and event shop. Either way, collecting is slow from permanent sources alone, so check both shops whenever you are short.

Where to start

First, collect the world petals you can reach and beat every Alpha Aniimo once for its free petal. Next, push regions to 70% capture for the silver badges and level the main branch of Branch Nurturing. Use the shops and the Faded Rainbow to cover what you are still missing. The barrier petal is collectable only after the level 50 story quest, so leave it until then.
