Combat Energy Management and Support Healing in Aniimo

EP only pays for skills, never for basic attacks, and the healers who keep a team standing each solve that bill in a different way.

4 min read5 sectionschecked updated

The short version

  1. Basic attacks cost no EP, so energy is purely a question of skill uptime
  2. Luminelle's Healing Impact drains EP for as long as the beam runs
  3. Besauce, Lunara and Chirpi all put energy back, each under different conditions
  4. Glacy heals the whole team and buffs its damage, with both of her big numbers keyed to her own stats
  5. Some healing keeps paying out while the Aniimo is off-field

EP is what your skills spend. The first useful thing to know is what it does not cover: basic attacks in Aniimo do not consume energy at all. You can keep swinging with an empty bar.

That changes what running dry actually means. You are never left with nothing to do, only with nothing expensive to do. Energy management is about skill uptime, not survival, which is why a handful of Aniimo exist mainly to hand energy back to the team.

Healing follows a similar split. Some of it lands while you are driving the character. Some of it keeps ticking after you have switched to somebody else.

Basic attacks are free, skills are not

Nothing about your standard attack string touches the EP bar. That is the floor you always have.

Everything above that floor is paid for, and not always up front. Luminelle's Healing Impact fires a sustained energy beam that drains EP the whole time it is running, damaging targets in range and healing teammates as it goes. The cost is ongoing rather than a single charge, so the longer you hold the beam, the deeper into the bar you get. It is worth knowing that a skill like this is doing two jobs at once, because you are paying for both of them out of the same pool.

The Aniimo that put energy back

Chirpi
Chirpi

Besauce is the specialist. The whole design is built around resource generation, specifically restoring and maintaining EP, which makes it the answer when your problem is that the good buttons are greyed out.

Lunara covers some of the same ground through a single skill. Moon-Washed restores EP, so it is a deliberate press rather than a passive drip.

Chirpi's trait works on a narrower condition. It restores EP to an incoming Chirpi family member when you switch. That payout only happens inside the family, so it rewards teams built around those Aniimo rather than Chirpi being slotted in anywhere as a generic battery.

Glacy covers the healer job alone

Glacy
Glacy

Glacy fills the Healer role, and the kit is built for it. Healing Water restores health to all allies, and it grants Glacy additional self-healing on top of that, so the person keeping everyone alive is also the person least likely to fall over.

The ultimate is the heavy piece. It creates a large healing zone that restores 36% of Glacy's maximum HP to the four-character team over 5 seconds. Read that scaling carefully: the number comes off Glacy's own maximum HP, not off whoever is standing in the zone. What she is built with decides what everyone else receives.

Glimmer Shot is the reason Glacy is not purely a healer. It fires a Light Orb that, on hit, increases the whole team's damage by 15% for 15 seconds. A healer slot that also carries a team damage buff is a different kind of slot.

Healing Water is not hers exclusively, either. Skippy has the same skill, so that particular team heal is available on more than one Aniimo.

Glacy fills the Healer role, carrying Healing Water and Glimmer Shot.

Healing that keeps running while you play someone else

Flutternym
Flutternym

Flutternym and Gracewing have their own guide, so the short version will do here. Flutternym is a healer with team-wide healing skills, and while off-field it appears as a phantom that restores HP whenever the rest of the team use skills or Ultimates. Flutterinum restores a percentage of health whenever an ability is used, including from off-field. Flutternym's trait, Flutter Heal, increases healing by 20% when it enters battle as the active Aniimo, and Gracewing's ultimate heals the entire team for 30% of Gracewing's own maximum HP. The pattern to take away is that a healer sitting on the bench can still be contributing.

Chirpi handles duration instead. It is a Support-role Aniimo, and its March skill regenerates a percentage of maximum HP every second for 20 seconds. That is one press buying a long stretch of regeneration, which suits a fight where damage arrives in small repeated chunks rather than one spike.

Off field, Flutternym appears as a phantom and restores HP when teammates use skills or Ultimates.

Where to start

Build your energy plan around who actually spends it. If your team leans on a drain skill like Healing Impact, bring a generator such as Besauce or Lunara. If you want one slot doing healing and damage at once, that is Glacy. If you want cover while your healer is on the bench, that is what the off-field Aniimo are for.
