How to fly and glide in Aniimo
Gliding is something you can do almost straight away. Flight is not. Here is the difference, and what Nimbi and Lumin Amber have to do with it.

The short version
- Gliding is a field ability, in the same set as swimming, wall climbing, boulder breaking, invisibility and elemental effects.
- Nimbi's Puff Up ability gives you extra vertical traversal height.
- When you climb, fly or swim, the game transforms you automatically into your highest-tier Aniimo capable of it.
- True flight is an unlock and requires Lumin Amber.
- Every Aniimo has its own movement or exploration trait while twined, so your traversal options grow with your collection.
Getting off the ground in Aniimo happens in two stages, and it helps to know which one you are in. Gliding is a field ability. It sits in the same list as swimming, wall climbing, boulder breaking, turning invisible and applying elemental effects, and you get it by having a creature that carries it.
True flight is a different thing. It is an unlock, and it requires Lumin Amber. No amount of collecting gliders substitutes for that.
So the practical question early on is not how to fly. It is how to turn the height you already have into distance, and how the game decides which creature carries you while you do it.
Puff Up is your vertical budget
Nimbi's Puff Up ability gives you extra vertical traversal height. That is the whole mechanic, and it is more useful than it sounds, because height is the input a glide runs on. Every metre Puff Up adds is a metre you get to spend going sideways.
This is why Nimbi tends to be the creature people keep around long after they have stronger ones. Gliding is one of the field abilities, so any creature carrying it will move you through the air. What Puff Up changes is where the air starts.

The game picks your form, and it picks the best one
You do not manually swap creatures to traverse. When you climb, fly or swim, the game automatically transforms you into your highest-tier capable Aniimo for that action.
Two things follow from that. The first is convenience: you can run at a cliff or a lake and the right form arrives without any input from you. The second is the part that catches people out. The game picks the highest tier that can do the job, not the one you were thinking of. If you have starred up a creature with a mediocre movement trait and it outranks your specialist, that is the one you get. Knowing what sits at the top of each category matters more than knowing what you own.
Lumin Amber is what actually unlocks flight
Unlocking true flight requires Lumin Amber. There is no route around it and no creature that stands in for it. Until you have it, air travel means a glide from something you climbed, dropped off, or puffed your way up to.
Flight is worth the wait because it changes how the map reads. Every captured Aniimo can be Twined with to grant its own movement ability, and those run from sprinting and swimming through to flight itself, so your traversal options widen as your collection grows. Every Aniimo has a distinct movement or exploration trait while twined. Flight is simply the one that stops treating terrain as a problem to solve.
Where to start
Get a glider into your collection early, lean on Nimbi's Puff Up for the vertical metres, and treat Lumin Amber as the real goal. Until you have it, everything above ground level is borrowed height.
