Guides › How to catch wild Aniimo
Does capturing from behind increase catch rate?
Attacking or throwing capture pods at an Aniimo from behind grants a back attack bonus that increases the catch rate.
Throwing a pod at the back of an unaware Aniimo applies a 1.5x backstab catch bonus.
This bonus applies outside of battle when you remain undetected, allowing you to complete a capture without attacking the target at all. You can improve your capture chances further by hiding inside foliage or setting terrain traps before making your move. Sneaking up behind an Aniimo while it is sleeping provides an even larger boost to your capture odds.
Maintaining stealth is critical because startled creatures can become impossible to catch. Alerting timid targets like Hums and Hummins causes them to immediately burrow into the ground and escape.
