Guides › Stealth captures, backstab bonuses and sleeping Aniimo

Does sneaking increase capture rate?

Sneaking up behind an Aniimo increases capture success, especially while it is sleeping.

Throwing a pod at the back of an unaware Aniimo applies a 1.5x backstab catch bonus.

Staying undetected keeps the target from fleeing, while throwing while hidden inside foliage or positioning directly behind the creature secures the positional bonus. This approach allows you to complete captures outside of battle without initiating combat or dealing damage.

Moving quietly is mandatory for certain wild targets. Hums and Hummins burrow into the ground the moment they are startled, which eliminates the capture opportunity immediately.

Traps and line of sight

You can combine stealth with traps placed on the terrain. Trapping a wild creature holds it in place so you can circle to its rear arc uncontested.

The Smoke Screen support skill spreads a cloud of smoke that blocks targeting completely. This breaks detection in the field, giving you an opening to catch targets off guard.

Not settled: Whether catching a sleeping Aniimo guarantees a capture is unsettled. The displayed catch chance appears both as rising to 100% and as an improved percentage that can still fail.
