Guides › Evolution traps: Umbral form loss and failed requirements
Does evolving an Umbral Aniimo remove its form?
Evolving an Umbral Aniimo permanently removes its Umbral visual appearance, state, and special perks.
The creature turns into a standard species form with no way to reverse the change.
Transforming or evolving removes the dark visual essence and strips out the special Umbral perk. If you rely on the combat benefits of that mutation, keeping the creature in its base form is the only way to retain them.
The game includes a safety prompt to stop accidental losses. A confirmation warning appears before the evolution can proceed, giving you the chance to back out before the Umbral trait is lost.
