Is catching a sleeping Aniimo guaranteed?

Catching a wild Aniimo while it is asleep makes the capture much easier, but whether it is guaranteed is unsettled: throwing an Aniipod at a sleeping Aniimo is given both as a certain catch with the displayed chance rising to 100% and as improved without reaching a certain capture.

This one is not settled.

Both versions are shown because the disagreement is itself information — usually it means the mechanic changed between beta builds.

Throwing at an asleep wild Aniimo from behind adds the 1.5x backstab bonus. Wild Aniimo can be caught while asleep without initiating combat or attacking them first. Sneaking up undetected raises your capture chance, and combining that positioning with terrain traps or throws from foliage stacks additional success bonuses on top of the sleep modifier.

Catching a target while it sleeps also prevents detection reactions. Creatures that flee upon notice, such as Hums and Hummins burrowing into the ground when startled, remain vulnerable in the field as long as they stay asleep.

Not settled: Catch calculations during sleep are inconsistent across game builds, displaying both as a guaranteed 100 percent success rate and as an improved percentage that falls short of a certain catch.
