Guides › Aniimo combat roles: shared energy, presets and rules
What combat system does Aniimo use?
Aniimo uses real-time action RPG combat rather than turn-based combat, divided into Command Mode and Twine Mode and involving active movement, dodging, cooldown-based skills, team switching, and stamina management, although an unfinished turn-based mode is unconfirmed but claimed to have existed in closed beta testing.
Prime Energy governs stamina for sprinting, dashing, and dodging incoming strikes. Positioning dictates survival, requiring you to actively evade strikes rather than waiting through menus.
You maintain an active party of up to four Aniimo, switching between team members to trigger skills as cooldowns cycle. Fights focus on landing attacks to build toward ultimate abilities.
Command Mode and Twine Mode
In Command Mode, the Pathfinder stays on the field directing the Aniimo and fighting alongside it. You support the creature with your own attacks and skills, trigger its abilities, and issue tactical orders while it fights automatically.
Pressing C initiates Twining to take direct control of the creature. This grants its basic attack, manual aim for its two energy-consuming active skills, and an evasive maneuver specific to that creature. Twining also provides a fresh health bar based on that Aniimo's own stats, which is needed to dodge specific attacks and area-of-effect abilities.
Team Rotation and Loadouts
An active party holds up to four Aniimo, with remaining creatures kept in a box system. Each Aniimo equips up to two regular combat skills in addition to its ultimate attack.
Switching team members lets you rotate between cooldown-based skills and respond to threats in real time. Striking opponents builds toward creature ultimates while Prime Energy fuels your sprints, dashes, and dodges.
Not settled: A turn-based combat mode appeared in both betas and remained unfinished.
