Flutternym passive: Flutter Heal and off-field healing

Flutternym heals your active Aniimo from the bench every time a teammate casts a skill or Ultimate, and Flutter Heal adds 20% healing when it steps in.

2 min read4 sectionschecked updated

The short version

  1. In reserve, Flutternym appears as a phantom and restores 0.5% of maximum HP to your active Aniimo whenever a teammate uses a skill or Ultimate.
  2. The healing works without Flutternym ever being deployed, so it can stay in the party purely as a support.
  3. Flutter Heal is a passive trait: it heals the team automatically while Flutternym is in the party, with no manual activation.
  4. When Flutternym enters battle as the active Aniimo, Flutter Heal increases its healing by 20%.
  5. Gracewing provides the same healing ghost effect as Flutternym, and Flutterinum also restores a percentage of health on every ability use, including from off-field.

Most healing in Aniimo asks you to give up a turn or a slot on the field. Flutternym's does not. Its passive trait, Flutter Heal, works from the reserve, and it keys off the skills your other Aniimo are already casting.

That makes it one of the more useful answers if you are looking for the best healing Aniimo that does not cost you damage. This page covers exactly what the trait does on the bench, what changes when Flutternym takes the field, and which other Aniimo share the same effect.

Flutternym heals the team through its passive trait Flutter Heal, with no manual activation.

How Flutternym heals from reserve

Flutternym
Flutternym

While Flutternym sits in reserve, it appears as a phantom. Every time one of your teammates uses a skill or an Ultimate, that phantom restores 0.5% of maximum HP to your active Aniimo. Flutternym never needs to be deployed for this to happen.

The trait is fully passive. Flutter Heal heals the team automatically as long as Flutternym is in your party, and there is nothing to press or time. You put it in the party and it does its job.

The practical effect is that your healing scales with how often you cast. A team that leans on skills and Ultimates gets more ticks of healing than one that does not, so the phantom pays off best alongside Aniimo whose skill guide has you casting constantly.

0.5%

Max HP restored per teammate skill

In reserve, Flutternym restores this much of the active Aniimo's maximum HP each time a teammate uses a skill or Ultimate, so it heals without being deployed.

Flutter Heal when Flutternym enters battle

Flutter Heal does a second thing. When Flutternym enters battle as the active Aniimo, the trait increases its healing by 20%.

So Flutternym is not only a bench piece. Its reserve phantom covers you while it waits, and when you do bring it out, its own healing is stronger for it. You do not have to choose between using it as a passive support and using it in the fight.

20%

Healing increase as active Aniimo

Flutter Heal increases healing by this much when Flutternym enters battle as the active Aniimo.

Gracewing and Flutterinum do the same job

Gracewing
Gracewing

Flutternym is not the only Aniimo with this kind of effect. Gracewing provides an identical healing ghost, so if you already have Gracewing in your party, it fills the same role and you get the same heal on skill casts.

Flutterinum works along the same lines: it restores a percentage of health whenever an ability is used, and that includes when it is off the field. If your team is built around frequent casting, any of these three gives you sustain without spending an active slot on a dedicated healer.

For how these compare with the rest of the game's healers and support Aniimo, see the site's main guide on best healers and support Aniimo. The short version for this page: Flutternym's value is that its healing comes from reserve, on the back of skills you were going to cast anyway.

Where to start

Put Flutternym in your party behind a team that casts skills and Ultimates often, and let its phantom heal your active Aniimo from reserve. Bring it onto the field when you want the extra 20% healing from Flutter Heal. If you already run Gracewing, you have the same ghost effect and can use the slot for something else.
