Home Coins vs Bud Tickets: what each Homeland currency buys

Home Coins pay for nearly everything in the Homeland and stop being scarce around RV level 8. Bud Tickets are the ones you need before any decoration goes down.

The short version

  1. Home Coins are the Homeland's main currency. You earn them by selling crops and goods to merchants, and they pay for facilities, farming upgrades, plot expansion, RV upgrades, shop purchases and order re-rolls.
  2. Home Coins are not what holds back Homeland progression, and they become easy to get from around RV level 8 onward.
  3. Bud Tickets pay for buildings, materials, cosmetics and decorations, and you need them to place a decoration at all.
  4. Selling furniture back refunds about half of the Bud Tickets it cost, so moving furniture around is not free.
  5. Harvested crops and other Homeland products can be sold unprocessed at the home shop for Home Coins, and the Homeland keeps producing while you are offline.

The Homeland runs on two currencies, and they are easy to mix up because both of them touch furniture. Home Coins are the general money: they come from selling what your Homeland makes, and they pay for the machinery that makes more of it. Bud Tickets are narrower. They cover buildings, materials, cosmetics and decorations, and no decoration can be placed without them.

Knowing which is which saves you from hoarding the wrong one. Home Coins feel precious early and stop mattering much later. Bud Tickets get spent on how your Homeland looks and on the furniture that raises its index score, and you only get part of them back if you change your mind.

Home Coins and Bud Tickets do different jobs

Home Coins are the Homeland's own main currency. Think of them as the operating budget. They pay for building, unlocking and levelling production facilities, for farming upgrades, for expanding plots and for upgrading the RV. They also buy furniture decorations, re-roll daily orders once your free re-rolls are gone, and cover everything the Homeland shop robot sells.

Bud Tickets are the Homeland currency for buildings, materials, cosmetics and decorations. That includes furniture that raises the index score, which has its own guide on this site. The rule worth remembering is simple: placing a decoration requires Bud Tickets. Whatever else you have in the bank, no tickets means nothing goes down.

Where Home Coins come from

You earn Home Coins by selling crops and goods to merchants. The farm is the obvious starting point. You plant crops from seeds, harvest them, and anything you harvest, along with other Homeland products, can be sold unprocessed at the home shop. You do not have to turn a crop into something fancier before it is worth money.

Processing is still there when you want it. Rock Candy, for example, is made from sugar cane in the Heat Furnace. The crops guide covers temperature zones, seeds and recipes properly; for this page the point is just that the farm feeds the till.

Most of this happens without you. The Homeland generates resources idly over real-world time, and your Aniimo keep producing resources and Anipods while you are offline or busy elsewhere. When you log in, a home report summarises what was produced. The Homeland generates currencies and capture balls along the way, so it pays you in more than one form.

One detail affects how long that idle stretch lasts. Higher-grade food, such as home-produced food, keeps Aniimo working longer before the feeder needs refilling than lower-grade bought food. Feeding your workers from your own farm keeps the whole loop running longer between visits. The worker guide goes into assignments in more depth.

What to spend Home Coins on

The Homeland shop robot is where a lot of Home Coins go. It sells eggs, crafting goods, production materials, and crop and tree seeds. Seeds bought here go straight back into the farm, and the farm turns them back into coins.

The bigger spends are structural: building, unlocking and levelling production facilities, farming upgrades, plot expansion and RV upgrades. These are what make the Homeland produce more per hour, so they are where early coins earn their keep.

The good news is that coins do not stay tight for long. Home Coins are not the limiting resource for Homeland progression, and from around RV level 8 onward they become easy to obtain. Spend them on production early and do not agonise over every purchase later.

Spending Bud Tickets, and the cost of selling furniture back

Bud Tickets go on buildings, materials, cosmetics and decorations. Furniture that raises the index score is part of that list, which is why tickets matter to anyone chasing a higher Home Index. How to earn Bud Tickets is covered in the dedicated Bud Tickets and Home Index guide.

The catch is the refund. Selling furniture back returns about half of the Bud Tickets it cost. Rearranging is cheap; replacing is not. If you buy a piece, regret it and sell it, you have lost roughly half its price. Decide where something is going before you buy it, and treat furniture purchases as mostly permanent.

About half

Bud Tickets refunded when selling furniture

Selling furniture back loses roughly half of what it cost, so placing it is close to a one way spend.

Orders and re-rolls

The Homeland has an order robot NPC that offers 12 orders at a time. Daily orders reset twice a day, and they also reset whenever the RV ranks up, which is one more small reason to push RV upgrades.

This is where Home Coins and orders meet. Once your free re-rolls are used, re-rolling a daily order costs Home Coins. Since coins get easy from around RV level 8, paying to swap out an order you do not like becomes a reasonable habit later on. Urgent orders and pay are covered in the daily orders guide.

Where to start

Put your early Home Coins into production facilities, plots, farming upgrades and the RV, and sell crops unprocessed whenever you need cash. Coins stop being a worry around RV level 8. Treat Bud Tickets as the careful currency: you need them to place any decoration, and selling furniture back only returns about half.
