Homeland Crops: Temperature Zones, Seeds and Recipes

Sugar cane wants a scorching plot, strawberries and walnut want cold, and an empty seed stock stops a field even while you are offline.

The short version

  1. Crop fields have a cold zone and a hot zone, and you set a plot's temperature by assigning an Aniimo to it.
  2. Sugar cane grows best in a scorching environment and takes much longer without a scorching unit running.
  3. Strawberries need a freezing temperature, and walnut needs adequate sun plus a chilled zone generated by cooling modules.
  4. A field with no seed stock stops producing, even while you are offline, and every production line that depends on that crop stops with it.
  5. You can sell crops unprocessed in the home shop or at the co-op store for Home Coins, which you then spend on seeds, plots and farm upgrades.

Farming in the Homeland comes down to three things: plant each crop at the temperature it wants, keep the seeds coming, and decide what to sell. The farm itself is simple. You plant from seeds and harvest what grows. The details that cost you time are the temperatures and the seed stock.

This guide covers which crops want heat and which want cold, how seed stock breaks a production line, which Aniimo do the field work, and where the harvest turns into Home Coins. The wider Homeland and RV systems have their own guide on this site. This page stays in the field.

Hot plots, cold plots and the crops that need them

Crop fields have a cold zone and a hot zone. You set a plot's temperature by assigning an Aniimo to it, and Fire Aniimo are the ones that supply heat.

Sugar cane is the crop for your hot zone. It grows best in a scorching environment, and without a scorching unit running it takes much longer. You can plant it anywhere, but it is slow outside the heat.

Strawberries go the other way. They are a cold-weather crop and need a freezing temperature, so they belong in the cold zone.

Walnut is the fussiest of the three. It needs adequate sun, and it also has to sit in a chilled zone generated by cooling modules. So you have to get the cold right and still give it light. Check both before you commit a plot to it.

Which zone a crop needs

Hot zone

  • Sugar cane grows best in a scorching environment
  • Sugar cane takes much longer without a scorching unit running
  • Fire Aniimo can supply heat

Cold zone

  • Strawberries need a freezing temperature
  • Walnut plots need a chilled zone from cooling modules
  • Walnut also needs adequate sun

Seed stock is what keeps a field running

A field produces only while it has seeds. When its seed stock runs out, it stops. That keeps happening while you are offline, so a field that runs dry an hour after you log off sits idle until you come back.

The damage spreads, too. Running out of seeds stops every production line that depends on that crop. If something downstream turns your harvest into another material, an empty seed stock stops that line as well. The full chain of stoppages, food and workers included, has its own guide on this site.

You buy crop and tree seeds from the shop robot with Home Coins. Wheat is easy to stock in bulk: its daily purchase limit in the store is 15,000.

Who works the fields

Captured Aniimo you are not using in your team can be put to work in the Homeland. There they plant and tend crops, draw water and handle other chores while you are busy elsewhere.

For the farm, the roles split by type. Grass-type Aniimo handle planting and harvesting. Water-type Aniimo water plants automatically. A field staffed with both looks after itself, as long as the seed stock holds.

Workers eat. Each one consumes food at a rate of 10 per minute, and they have to be fed to keep working efficiently. A bigger farm crew means more food. Plan for that before you assign every spare Aniimo to the fields.

Food each Homeland worker consumes

Workers must be fed to keep their work efficiency, so food supply limits how many Aniimo you can keep on the fields.

Trees, new plots and speeding things up

Trees are a separate crop line. A tree planted in the Homeland produces timber, and also lemons, maple seeds and bamboo, so one planting gives you building material and harvest at once.

When you open a new homestead plot, clear the debris first. It yields wood blocks and mineral sand, reported as 240 wood blocks and 20 mineral sand, which gives a new plot a small head start.

Once you have several fields, the home management interface saves you a lot of walking. It lets you upgrade facilities and farmland plots in batches without going to each one. If a farm task is holding you up, the homeland shop sells accelerator consumables that speed it up.

Selling the harvest for Home Coins

You do not have to process a crop to profit from it. Harvested crops and homestead materials can be sold unprocessed in the home shop for Home Coins, and Homeland products, crop harvests included, also sell at the co-op store.

Home Coins are the Homeland's own main currency, and the farm spends a lot of them. They pay for seeds from the shop robot, farming upgrades, expanding plots, and building, unlocking and levelling production facilities. Selling crops funds more fields, and more fields mean more crops to sell. The full list of what Home Coins buy is in this site's guide to Seasonal Stamps and Homeland Coins.

The Homeland also lets you convert resources into other materials, so a crop can feed a production line instead of going straight to the counter. Whichever way you go, the rule from the seed section still applies: a line built on a crop is only as reliable as that crop's seed stock.

Where to start

Put sugar cane in the hot zone with a Fire Aniimo running. Put strawberries and walnut in the cold zone, and make sure walnut also gets sun. Keep seed stock topped up before you log off. Staff the fields with Grass-type and Water-type workers, and keep them fed. Sell the surplus raw for Home Coins, then spend them on seeds and more plots.
