How Dual Elements and Form Typings Work in Aniimo
Most Aniimo have one element. The ones with two usually got the second from a form, and Prismana is where that happens.
The short version
- Single element is the norm: Panpanta is Water, Scorchav is Fire, Fulmintis is Electric, Thornblade is Grass.
- Prismana forms can add a second element on top of the base element, making the creature dual-element.
- Prismana Glynsera is Ice and Light. Prismana Ignitis is Dark and Fire. Prismana Magmarex is Fire and Dark.
- Fulmintis is Electric and gains the Light element in its Prismana form.
- Prismana Scorchav retains pure Fire, so a Prismana form is no guarantee of a second element.
- Thornblade is Grass, its Prismana form is Grass and Water, and its Thunderstorm form is Grass and Electric.
- Whether Thornblade itself is pure Grass or dual Grass and Water is not settled.
If you have searched for "aniimo elements" and come away confused about why the same creature is listed two different ways, this is why. An Aniimo's element is not always a property of the creature. It is often a property of the form.
Most Aniimo have a single element. Dual typing shows up on rare variant forms, and even then it is not automatic. Two creatures can wear the same form and only one of them comes out with a second element.
This guide covers which creatures have one element, what Prismana forms do to typing, and the one creature that gives a different answer in every form it has.
Aniimo elements start at one
The default in Aniimo is a single element, and plenty of the creatures you meet early never move off it. Panpanta has one element, Water. Standard Scorchav is Fire. Fulmintis is Electric. Thornblade, No. 034, is Grass.
One case is messier. Standard Grizbo, also written Grizzbolt, is a Stone or Earth element Aniimo, and neither the creature's name nor the word for its element has settled into a single form yet. If you are reading a team list and see both spellings, they are the same creature.
Dual typing exists, but it is not something a creature usually brings with it. It arrives with a form.
The second element comes from the Prismana form
Prismana forms are the rare variants, and they are where dual typing lives. A Prismana form can gain a second element on top of the base element, which makes the creature dual-element, and it can also hand the creature a different element from its basic form. Owning the form unlocks skills too, which is a subject of its own.
The worked examples are concrete. Prismana Glynsera is an Ice and Light type. The Prismana form of Ignitis is a dual Dark and Fire type. Prismana Magmarex is a dual Fire and Dark type, which is the same pairing turning up on a second creature. Fulmintis is Electric on its own, and gains the Light element in its Prismana form.
So the pattern is that the Prismana form is the thing that changes a typing, and the base creature is the thing you compare it against. Read them as a pair, not as two separate creatures.
Standard Fulmintis
- Electric element.
- One element only, with no second typing.
Prismana Fulmintis
- Gains the Light element.
- Carries a second element on top of its base element.
- Prismana forms also unlock skills tied to owning that form.
Prismana Scorchav keeps a single element
A Prismana form does not guarantee a second element. Standard Scorchav is Fire, and Prismana Scorchav retains pure Fire elemental typing. Nothing is added.
That is the useful correction to make early. Prismana forms can alter an Aniimo's elemental typing and occasionally provide dual typings, and occasionally is the right word. Chasing a Prismana form because you expect a second element out of it is a bet, not a plan. Judge each form on what that form actually is.
Thornblade carries a different typing in each form
Thornblade is the clearest case of form driving typing, because it has more than one form to compare. The base creature, No. 034, is Grass. Prismana Thornblade is a dual Grass and Water type. Thornblade's Thunderstorm form is Grass and Electric type. Same creature, three different answers depending on which one is in front of you.
Thornblade's own typing is also not settled. It turns up as a dual Grass and Water type and as a pure Grass type, and that is unresolved rather than a spelling problem. If you are building around a Water half on the base creature, treat it as an open question for now.
Prismana is not the only kind of form either. Thunderstorm is one, and some Aniimo have regional variants that look different depending on where in the world they are found. The general form system is covered elsewhere on this site. What matters here is that the form you are holding, not the creature's name, decides how many elements you are working with.
Where to start
Check the form before you check the element. The base creature tells you one thing, the Prismana or Thunderstorm form can tell you another, and Thornblade is the creature to look at if you want to see how far apart those answers can get.
