Guides › Egg Heist backpack: inventory slots, weight and what to carry

Is purple loot worth taking in Egg Heist?

Purple loot is generally not worth inventory space in Egg Heist, and gold items should be prioritised over it.

The one firm rule is weight: a purple item that takes up a single bar is not worth picking up. Your bag fills, and every bar spent on a purple trinket is a bar a gold item can't use. That applies in solo Chaos Egg Heist too, where you have nobody to share the carrying.

Weight matters because of what loot is for. Egg Heist rewards do little for your progression outside the mode, and loot is mainly valuable for the silver it sells for. What you bring out gets turned into currency, either sold at the shop or converted automatically when you exit. A bag of purples simply converts into less than a bag of golds.

Purple chests versus purple items

Skipping purple items is not the same as skipping purple chests. Purple and gold chests hold higher-tier loot than common ones and are still worth opening first. The open question is how thoroughly to empty a purple chest. One approach is to loot it fully. The other is to take only the items that weigh two or more bars and leave the rest. Legendary chests are worth emptying completely either way.

Time is the other cost. Opening a chest takes a few seconds to load its contents, and you stand still while it does. The Scavenger talent, starting at Scavenger 1, cuts the time it takes to search chests and items. That makes picking through a purple chest for its heavier pieces cheaper.

Not settled: How fully to loot a purple chest is still open. One view says take everything. The other says take only items of two or more bars. The one-bar rule is the part both agree on.
