Egg Heist loot: chests, item quality and selling
Purple and gold chests first, every time. How to read gray, green and yellow loot, what Scavenger 1 speeds up, and how your haul becomes Eggshell Coins.
The short version
- Prioritise purple (prismatic) and gold chests in Egg Heist: they hold higher-tier loot than common chests, and purple ones are worth looting completely.
- Opening a chest takes a few seconds and you stand still the whole time, so pick your chests rather than opening everything you pass.
- Item quality is shown by colour: gray is the lowest, green sits above it, and legendary items glow yellow. Every item also has a weight in kilograms.
- Extracted loot turns into currency, either sold at the shop after the match or converted automatically when you exit.
- The Scavenger talent, starting at Scavenger 1, cuts the time it takes to search chests and items.
Aniimo Egg Heist is a loot run. You go in, open what you can, and whatever you carry out turns into currency. The mode pays out flames and shards as you progress through a run, but the part you control is the haul: which chests you crack, which items you keep, and how you cash it in.
This guide covers that haul. It starts with which chests are worth your time, then how to read an item's quality and weight, then how extracted loot becomes Eggshell Coins. Ranks and the full shop are covered in "Egg Heist ranks, shops and rewards", so they get a sentence here, not a section.
Which Egg Heist chests to open first
Not every chest is equal. Purple and gold chests hold higher-tier loot than common chests, and they should be the first thing you go for. Purple chests are also called prismatic, and they can contain better loot still. When you find one, empty it completely rather than grabbing the top item and moving on.
The reason to be choosy is time. Opening a chest takes a few seconds to load its contents, and you stand still while it does. A common chest costs you the same pause as a purple one and gives you less for it. On a run where you are trying to get in and out, those pauses add up, so spend them on the colours that pay.
If searching feels slow, the Scavenger talent is the fix. Starting at Scavenger 1, it reduces the time needed to search chests and items, which makes every stop shorter.
Reading loot quality and weight
Egg Heist shows item quality by colour. Gray is the lowest tier. Green sits above it. Legendary items glow yellow, which makes them easy to spot in a pile. If you are deciding between two items, the colour tells you which is the better find.
Loot also has a weight, measured in kilograms. Every item carries one, so quality is not the only number on an item worth reading before you pick it up.
- GrayThe lowest quality tier.
- GreenA step up from gray.
- Yellow glowLegendary items. The top of the colour scale.
Turning extracted loot into Eggshell Coins
Whatever you extract becomes currency. You can sell it at the shop after the match, or it converts automatically when you exit. Either way, loot left behind is worth nothing, and loot carried out is worth what it sells for.
The currency itself is exclusive to the mode and is spent in the Egg Heist Shop on things like talent nodes. Its name is not settled: it goes by Eggshell Coins, shell shards, Prismana and Umbrals. Badges are a separate thing. They are achievements recorded in the badge book and have no documented shop function, so do not expect to spend them.
Keep your expectations about the payout realistic. Egg Heist rewards do little for your progression outside the mode, and loot is mainly valuable for the silver it sells for. Run Egg Heist because you want to get stronger at Egg Heist, not as a shortcut for the rest of the game.
Vendors and the talent tree
Two things inside and around a run are worth knowing. A mysterious vendor can sometimes appear inside Egg Heist dungeons, typically near an entrance or exit. It does not show up every time, so check those spots as you pass.
The coins you earn feed the talent tree, and Scavenger is one of the first talents worth taking for a loot runner. Deeper nodes in the tree need rarer resources such as pink essence, so the further you push the tree, the more you depend on what you pull out of each run.
Where to start
Head for purple and gold chests, and loot purple ones completely. Use colour to judge items: gray is the lowest, legendary glows yellow. Get everything out, because extracted loot is what becomes Eggshell Coins. Put Scavenger 1 early in your talent plans so each chest costs you less standing time.
