Were random rune slots removed from carried items?

Random rune slots have been removed, simplifying the carried item system so that carried items no longer roll them.

You no longer need to roll socket counts, manage capacity, or craft runes.

Pawprint Studio announced on 3 September 2026 that the entire closed-beta rune system would be removed for the 16 September 2026 launch. Carried items, referred to as held items in the live game, do not have sockets and require no orb thresholds to activate.

Closed Beta Rune Mechanics

During the closed beta, carried items used socketed runes across Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities. Runes built up orbs toward unlocking tiered item effects, with the first tier requiring 10 orbs. They also provided combat stat increases while consuming rune capacity, with a Legendary rune costing four capacity points. Five Epic runes could be crafted together into a single Legendary rune.

Those crafting rules, capacity limits, and socket rolls no longer exist. Held items now grant passive stat bonuses directly, pushing effective stats beyond the standard 20-point per-stat potential ceiling. Upgrading them requires Crystal cores and Held Item Cores in Basic, Common, and Advanced grades.
