Guides › Break stats and posture stagger mechanics in Aniimo

What happens when an enemy's break meter depletes?

Depleting an enemy's break meter inflicts a temporary stun, or staggered state, that lowers the enemy's defenses and amplifies the damage the party deals.

Bosses take 250% damage while stunned, until the break meter regenerates.

The target drops its defensive stance and stops attacking completely. This vulnerability window gives your damage dealers amplified output and creates the opening needed to land an Ultimate attack.

The gray bar beneath the enemy red health bar remains empty during this vulnerability phase. Once the break meter refills, the enemy recovers from the stun and resumes normal defense values.

Capturing wild Aniimo

Inflicting a break on a wild Aniimo increases capture success, raising it above 90 percent. Difficult wild targets usually need to be weakened in battle before a capture attempt has a realistic chance of succeeding. Depleting the break gauge achieves this without needing to reduce health to dangerous levels.

Break stats and party roles

Aniimo assigned to the DPS combat role focus on dealing high damage that is amplified during enemy break windows. Specialized creatures wear down those defenses first. For instance, Budclaw has a base break stat of 84, while Skippy has a base break stat of 50. Skills like the Pathfinder ability Mega Mallet deal heavy break damage to stagger targets faster.
