What is the Lumen stage in Aniimo?

In practice this is what most wild catches look like when you meet them. A Lumen is the weakest version of that species, with the smallest stat spread and the shortest move list, and it is the point in the line where you are expected to spend. Evolving costs specific resources, and some evolutions will not fire on level alone. They want a particular condition or progression milestone met first, which means a Lumen sitting at a high level is not automatically ready to move up.

Above it sit Gamma in the middle and Nova at the end. That ordering matters for one thing in particular: Ultimate moves belong to final-form Nova creatures only. A Lumen does not have one and cannot get one without going the whole way. Most species can make the trip, and evolving is what buys the higher stats and the new abilities, so a Lumen is normally a project rather than a finished team member.

Levelling is also not the only lever you have. Traits, potential through Capability Points, resonance progression, carried equipment and runes all feed into how strong a creature is, so a Lumen you like is not stuck being weak while you gather what its evolution needs.

When a Lumen is the only form there is

Not every species has three stages. Some have two, and some have none at all, in which case the base form is the whole line and there is nothing to evolve into. Rare variants and alternate forms exist separately from this, so an unusual-looking creature is not necessarily further along an evolution line. Flutternym into Gracewing is a straightforward example of a line that does move.

Getting past it without evolving

Catching an Alpha boss hands you an Aniimo that is already evolved, so you skip the Lumen stage and its resource cost entirely for that creature. Starter transformations are a different thing and do not help here. They are a temporary combat power boost, not a permanent step up the line.

Not settled: The stage name appears as both Lumin and Lumen, so expect either spelling in menus and guides.
