Celestis and Stellarys: Spawns, Evolution and Kit

Where Celestis spawns, the three things Stellarys evolution asks for, and how its ranged dark magic holds up in a fight.

The short version

  1. Celestis can be encountered in Nimbus Fields.
  2. Celestis evolves into Stellarys at Aniimo level 18.
  3. The evolution also needs an Alpha Stellarys defeated to unlock it, and a Night Stone spent.
  4. An Alpha Aniimo such as Stellarys can be caught with an Aniipod other than the Aniipod Ultra, but not reliably.
  5. Defeat the Alpha first, then throw an Aniipod Ultra, and the capture is a guaranteed 100%.
  6. Celestis is a ranged magic DPS Aniimo with the dark element.
  7. Shooting Stars fires stars at a target for damage, letting you pressure enemies safely.

Celestis is a ranged dark-element damage dealer, and it is one of the first Aniimo most players go looking for by name. You find it in Nimbus Fields.

The reason people search for it is the evolution. Celestis becomes Stellarys, and that upgrade has three conditions attached rather than one. Levelling alone will not do it.

This page covers where Celestis turns up, exactly what Stellarys costs, how to handle the Alpha Stellarys you need to beat along the way, and what the creature actually does in a fight.

Celestis evolution: level 18, a Night Stone, and a dead Alpha

Celestis
Celestis

Start in Nimbus Fields. That is where Celestis can be encountered, and you need one of your own before any of the rest of this matters.

The evolution into Stellarys has three requirements, and all three have to be met. Your Celestis must reach Aniimo level 18. An Alpha Stellarys must have been defeated, which is what unlocks the evolution in the first place. And a Night Stone has to be spent to actually perform it.

That middle condition is the one that catches people out. A Celestis sitting at the right level with a Night Stone in the bag still will not evolve if you have never fought the Alpha. Treat the Alpha as a prerequisite you go and clear deliberately, not something you stumble into. The wider system of special and branching evolutions has its own guide on this site; for Celestis, those three lines are the whole requirement.

Aniimo level Celestis must reach to evolve

Below level 18 the evolution will not fire even with a Night Stone in hand and the Alpha Stellarys already defeated.

Beating the Alpha Stellarys before you catch it

Stellarys

You have to fight the Alpha Stellarys anyway to unlock the evolution, so you may as well come away with one.

An Alpha Aniimo such as Stellarys can be caught with an Aniipod other than the Aniipod Ultra. It is just not reliable. If you are happy to burn pods and accept that the throw may simply fail, that route is open to you.

The dependable version is the other order. Defeat the Alpha, then throw an Aniipod Ultra. That is a guaranteed 100% capture. No rolling, no repeat attempts. If you own an Aniipod Ultra and you are standing in front of an Alpha, the fight comes first.

Two ways to catch an Alpha Stellarys

Throw a standard Aniipod

  • An Aniipod other than the Aniipod Ultra can catch an Alpha.
  • It does not work reliably.
  • No fight required first.

Defeat it, then throw an Aniipod Ultra

  • Defeat the Alpha Stellarys first.
  • Throw an Aniipod Ultra afterwards.
  • Capture is guaranteed at 100%.

Legendary catches do not work like Alpha catches

It is worth separating the two, because the words sound similar and the systems are not.

Legendary capture in the closed beta was repeatable and luck-based. You could keep trying. The release version dropped that. Legendaries now run on Legendary Tokens earned through world exploration and story progress, plus a Legendary Aniipod you craft, and a single scripted encounter where defeating the Legendary Aniimo guarantees the catch.

So the guaranteed-on-defeat pattern carries across from Alphas, but the attempt does not. A legendary encounter happens once and is built around progress you have already made, not around how many pods you are willing to throw.

Shooting Stars and the ranged dark kit

Celestis is a ranged magic DPS Aniimo, and its element is dark. That combination tells you where it sits in a team: it is there to deal damage from a distance, not to absorb anything.

Shooting Stars is the skill that defines it. It shoots stars at a target to deal damage, and because the damage lands from range, you can keep pressure on an enemy while staying out of its reach. That safety is the real value. A damage dealer that does not have to close the gap is a damage dealer that keeps contributing through phases where melee has to back off.

Play it accordingly. Hold your distance, keep Shooting Stars going, and let something sturdier hold the enemy's attention.

Where to start

Catch a Celestis in Nimbus Fields, get it to level 18, and go clear an Alpha Stellarys with an Aniipod Ultra in reserve so the trip earns you both the unlock and a second Stellarys. Then spend the Night Stone.
