Guides › Holo Battle Interlink offerings: which battle buff to pick
What roguelike buffs does Holo Battle Sim give?
Holo Battle Sim runs have rogue-lite elements, granting power-ups as the run progresses such as Defense, Healing, Shield and Damage Reduction buffs.
Every buff on that list keeps you alive longer, and that is the point: the runs are built to outlast you. Encounters get progressively harder as you go, bosses gain Enrage buffs that raise their damage as their timer runs down, and the powers you pick up are what let you keep pace.
Power-ups arrive as the run progresses, so the early rounds are where you are weakest. A Hollow Battle Ascent run is 10 rounds of consecutive bosses ending in a final boss, and each buff you take stacks your odds for the fights still ahead.
The mode is solo only, so the buffs are carrying one player, not a party. You can switch between team members and play each with their full kit, including ultimates, which means a defensive buff helps whoever you swap in.
Where the buffs come from in a run
Rounds are not all fights. A round can be a combat zone, an elite battle, a risk event, a wealth event or a rest area, and the layout is randomized each time. Healing and defense matter most when you are heading into elite battles and the final boss, so plan around the rest areas rather than relying on them.
Separate from the run's own power-ups, the Experimental Amplifier item grants a substantial damage boost against enemies on Normal difficulty.
Not settled: Defense, Healing, Shield and Damage Reduction are examples rather than the full pool of power-ups, and how strong each one is has not been pinned down.
