Alpha eggs: where to find them and what they hatch

Aniimo Alpha eggs name a territory, not a species. Learn where they hide, which ones need climbing or Twining, and what a standard Anipod does to them.

The short version

  1. Alpha eggs lie in the open world and you gather them directly; one interaction is enough to collect one.
  2. At least one Alpha egg sits high up in a tree, and you have to climb to reach it.
  3. Some wild eggs sit in nests you can only reach by Twining with an Aniimo whose pathfinding ability (flight, climbing or swimming) suits the obstacle.
  4. An Alpha egg names a territory rather than a specific Aniimo, so it can hatch into any species native to that territory.
  5. A standard Anipod randomizes what hatches, so an Alpha egg can still come out with only Good potential; a sparkling item on an Alpha egg gives a result that is alpha, sparkling, perfect and Prismana.

Aniimo Alpha eggs are not hidden behind a boss or a shop. They sit out in the open world, and you pick them up the same way you pick up any other egg. The hard part is getting to some of them.

The other thing to understand early is what an Alpha egg actually promises. It tells you where the egg comes from, not what is inside it. That changes how you should think about hatching one, and it is the reason the item you hatch it with matters as much as the egg itself.

Where Aniimo Alpha eggs are in the open world

Alpha eggs can be found lying in the open world and gathered directly. Many of them are simply on the ground where you can walk up to them.

Not all of them are that generous. One Alpha egg is high up in a tree, and you have to climb the tree to get it. If you see an egg above you and cannot find a path, that is the kind of spot to look at twice.

Some wild eggs sit in nests you cannot reach on foot at all. Those can only be reached by Twining with an Aniimo whose pathfinding ability suits the obstacle in the way: flight for a gap or a height, climbing for a wall, swimming for water. The practical upshot is that the Aniimo you have available to Twine with decides which nests you can visit, so a wider team opens up more of the map's eggs.

How to collect an Alpha egg

Eggs found out in the world are collected by interacting with them directly, and a single interaction is enough. There is no gathering bar to fill and no second step. Once you are standing next to the egg, the work is done.

That means the only real cost of an Alpha egg is the route. Getting up the tree or across the obstacle is the challenge; taking the egg is not.

What an Alpha egg hatches into

An Alpha egg names a territory rather than a specific Aniimo. It can hatch into any species native to that territory. So if you are hunting for an Alpha version of one particular creature, the egg will not promise it to you. It tells you the pool, and the hatch picks from it.

Potential is not guaranteed either. Hatching in a standard Anipod gives randomized characteristics, so even an Alpha egg can come out with only Good potential. The word Alpha on the egg does not lift the result above that roll.

Alpha Aniimo can also hatch randomly from eggs in general, and the Alpha mutation makes an Aniimo visibly larger than standard members of its species. You can see the size difference on wild Alphas and when an Alpha is untwined. Farming Alpha bosses for drops is a separate subject with its own guide on this site.

Getting a perfect result from an Alpha egg

The randomness of a standard Anipod is the reason the sparkling item exists. Using a sparkling item on a Prismana egg produces a perfect Prismana Aniimo.

Use one on an Alpha egg instead and the result is alpha, sparkling, perfect and Prismana, all at once. Compare that to the standard Anipod, where the same egg can come out with only Good potential. If you have gone to the trouble of climbing or Twining to reach an Alpha egg, this is the hatch that makes the trip pay off.

Hatching an Alpha egg two ways

Standard Anipod

  • Characteristics are randomized
  • Even an Alpha egg can come out with only Good potential

Sparkling item

  • Result is alpha, sparkling, perfect and Prismana
  • On a Prismana egg it gives a perfect Prismana Aniimo

Where to start

Collect every Alpha egg you can reach, and build a team that can Twine past flight, climbing and swimming obstacles so fewer nests are off limits. Pick the egg by territory, because that is all it promises. Save your sparkling items for Alpha eggs: a standard Anipod can leave you with Good potential, while a sparkling item gives you alpha, sparkling, perfect and Prismana together.
