Wild egg nests and alpha eggs in the open world
Aniimo alpha eggs lie in the open and can be picked up. One sits at the top of a tree you have to climb. Sanctum eggs come with a guard you have to fight.
The short version
- Alpha eggs in Aniimo lie out in the open world, and you pick them up directly. No fight or ritual is needed.
- At least one alpha egg is high up in a tree, so you have to climb to reach it. Look up as well as around.
- Regular (Normal) eggs are hidden throughout the open world in nests and field spawns, and they go into your inventory as items.
- Eggs in the Sanctum or at higher difficulties are guarded by hostile Umbra Aniimo or bosses, so expect to fight for them.
- Collecting Lumin Ambers can give you eggs, alongside other prizes.
In Aniimo, eggs don't only come from one menu or one vendor. The open world is full of them, and they're scattered across more than one kind of spot. Some sit on the ground waiting for you. Some are hidden. Some are guarded by something that wants a fight.
This guide sorts them by where you find them: the alpha eggs you can just pick up, the regular eggs tucked into nests and field spawns, the guarded eggs in the Sanctum and at higher difficulties, and the eggs you can get from Lumin Ambers.
Aniimo alpha eggs: lying in the open, gathered by hand
Alpha eggs can be found lying in the open world, and you gather them directly. There's no catching step and no puzzle. Walk up and take it.
The catch is that "in the open" doesn't always mean "at eye level". One alpha egg sits high up in a tree, and the only way to it is to climb. If you're sweeping an area for alpha eggs and keep coming up empty, look up into the canopy, not only along the ground.
Regular eggs in nests and field spawns
Regular eggs, which the game also calls Normal eggs, are hidden throughout the open world. You come across them while exploring, either in nests or as field spawns, and they're collected as items. So the reliable way to build a stock of them is to explore properly instead of running in a straight line between objectives.
You can also get eggs from Lumin Ambers. Collecting them can award eggs alongside other prizes. That makes Ambers worth picking up even when you aren't hunting eggs, because an egg can come along with whatever else they give you.
Sanctum eggs and the ones you have to fight for
Not every egg is free for the taking. Eggs in the Sanctum, and eggs at higher difficulties, are guarded by hostile Umbra Aniimo or by bosses. Picking one up means dealing with whatever is guarding it first.
That's the clearest split in how eggs work out here. Alpha eggs lying in the open and regular eggs in nests and field spawns only ask you to find them. Sanctum and high-difficulty eggs ask you to win a fight as well, so turn up with a team that can handle Umbra Aniimo or a boss.
Where to start
Explore slowly to find nests and field spawns, check the treetops for alpha eggs, and pick up Lumin Ambers as you go. Leave the Sanctum and higher-difficulty eggs until your team can beat whatever is guarding them.
