Can Aniimo learn skills outside their own element?
Ignitis can use a Grass skill and Prismana Fenmane gets a Light move on an Electric base. Here's what off-element skills change for your coverage, and what they don't.
The short version
- Aniimo are not locked to their own element's skills. Ignitis can learn and use a Grass-type skill.
- Prismana Fenmane, the Prismana form of the Electric-element Fenmane, gains an exclusive Light-element skill called Radiant Dart.
- A Prismana form's typing differs from the normal form's, but how much varies: some forms are dual-typed and others gain no extra element over their base.
- Off-element skills widen what you can hit, but your defensive matchup still comes from your Aniimo's own typing against incoming attacks.
Yes. In Aniimo, a creature's skills don't have to match its element. Some skill lists include moves of a different type, and Prismana forms can add a move from an element the base form never had.
That matters when you're building a team. A skill's element is about what you hit. Your Aniimo's typing is about what hits you. These two things are separate, and that's how you get coverage without giving up the creature you like.
Aniimo that use skills from other elements
The plainest example is Ignitis, which can learn and use a Grass-type skill. You don't need a Grass Aniimo on the team to have a Grass attack ready.
Skill element and creature element are separate labels. Emberpup has a fire-type ability. Black Hole (also called Black Hole Domain) is a Dark-type magical skill that places a persistent gravity trap on the field. When you look at a skill, check the element printed on the skill itself, not the element of the Aniimo using it.
Prismana forms and element changes

Prismana forms are the other way a creature picks up an element it didn't start with. A Prismana form has a different typing from its normal form: it either adds an elemental type or changes one. The Prismana form article covers the whole system, so here's just the part about skills.
Prismana Fenmane is the clearest case. Fenmane is an Electric-element Aniimo. Its Prismana form gains an exclusive Light-element skill called Radiant Dart, so you get a Light attack on a creature built around Electric.
One catch: Prismana forms don't all change in the same way. Prismana forms are described as adding an extra element compared to their standard forms. In practice, some are dual-typed and others gain no extra element over their base form. Check the specific form before you plan around a new typing.

What off-element skills mean for coverage

On offence, an off-element skill is pure gain. Ignitis with a Grass skill or Prismana Fenmane with Radiant Dart can hit targets their main element would struggle with, and you don't spend a team slot on it.
On defence, nothing changes. Your Aniimo's defensive matchup comes from its own typing against the enemy's incoming attacks. A Grass skill doesn't make Ignitis take hits like a Grass Aniimo. That's why a Prismana form's typing change matters separately from its new skill: the skill changes what you threaten, and only the typing changes what threatens you.
In-element skills still have their own pull, because some are built to work with the rest of a kit. Frost Tail Strike is a Physical skill that the Ice Aniimo Glynsera can learn. It has a power of 60 and can consume 10 stacks of [Ice Debuff] on its target to deal 85% extra damage. A skill like that rewards staying inside your element. A borrowed Grass or Light move is there to fill a gap, not to carry the team.

Where to start
When you check a new Aniimo, read the element on each skill, not just the creature's own. Off-element moves like Ignitis's Grass skill or Prismana Fenmane's Radiant Dart fix offensive gaps. For defensive weaknesses, look at typing, which for a Prismana form means checking exactly what that form changes.
