Does Aniimo have PvP? Game modes and rules
Aniimo has PvP, but it is the side dish. Here is what the modes actually are, how Egg Heist works, and what you can play alone.
The short version
- Aniimo focuses primarily on player-versus-environment content, and PvP modes exist alongside it rather than at the centre.
- The main story can only be progressed solo. Online co-op is invite-only, for up to four players, with cross-platform play.
- Egg Heist is the PvPvE mode: you battle other players to extract with special eggs.
- Whoever carries the central giant egg transforms into it and loses their combat abilities, so teammates have to escort them to evacuation.
- Holo-Battle Interlink is a four-player team challenge, and AI teammates fill any open slots.
- The Tenacious Will talent reduces the rate of health loss while downed.
Short answer: yes. Aniimo has player-versus-player modes where you fight other players directly.
Longer answer, and the one that matters if you are deciding how to spend your time: the game focuses primarily on player-versus-environment content. PvP sits beside that as an option, not as the thing the game is built around. If you came expecting competitive play to be the main event, adjust.
The rest of this page covers what the modes are, what Egg Heist actually asks of you, and how much of the game you can play without ever inviting anybody.
How much of Aniimo you play alone
Aniimo is primarily a solo experience. The main story can only be progressed alone, so there is no version of it where a friend carries you through the campaign or where you carry them. You both play it yourselves.
Everything social sits on top of that as an extra. Online co-op is invite-only and supports up to four players, so the people in your session are people you chose. Cross-platform play is supported. Egg Heist, the PvPvE mode, is optional in the same way.
That shapes how you should read every mode below. None of them is a gate on your progress. They are things to do once you want company or competition.
Solo
- The main story can only be progressed alone.
- The game focuses primarily on player versus environment content.
- Solo is the primary experience rather than a fallback.
Multiplayer extras
- Invite only online co op for up to four players.
- Cross platform play.
- The Egg Heist PvPvE mode.
- All of it optional rather than required.
Aniimo Egg Heist, and the player carrying the giant egg
Egg Heist is where you battle other players. The goal is to extract with special eggs, and the other players want the same thing, which is the whole of the conflict.
The central giant egg changes the shape of a match. Whoever carries it transforms into it and has no combat abilities. They cannot fight back. From that moment the carrier is a delivery problem, and their teammates have to escort them until evacuation.
So Egg Heist is not a mode you win purely by being the best fighter in the lobby. Someone has to be willing to become helpless, and everybody else has to be willing to guard them rather than go hunting.
Holo-Battle Interlink, and fighting short-handed
Holo-Battle Interlink is a four-player team challenge. It supports AI teammates that fill any open slots on the team, so a short roster is not a reason to skip it. You can go in without waiting for three friends to be online.
One talent is worth knowing before any fight where teammates matter. Tenacious Will reduces the rate of health loss while you are downed. Going down is not the end of it, and Tenacious Will stretches the time in between.

Where to start
Treat PvP as something you opt into. Play the story solo because that is the only way it goes, invite up to three people when you want company, and go into Egg Heist knowing the giant egg turns one of you into cargo.
