Fire debuff stacks: Infergon, Magmarex and Spark Elf buffs

Only a few units stack fire debuffs. Here is who does it, how stacks refund EP through Phantom Barrage, and how Spark Elf pushes team fire damage up to 70%.

The short version

  1. Infergon is one of the few units that can apply multiple fire debuff stacks, and it can carry a fire team as the main damage dealer against bosses.
  2. Magmarex applies multiple fire debuff stacks to enemies, and those stacks raise its own attack damage.
  3. Phantom Barrage recovers about four energy per fire debuff stack on the target, up to 37 energy.
  4. Stacking 10 or more fire debuffs on an Alpha such as Alpha Erizal triggers an overflowing state where every extra stack drops an EP-restoring energy orb.
  5. Spark Elf's buffs stack, taking the team's Fire damage bonus up to 70%.

Fire teams in Aniimo run on stacks. The more fire debuffs you pile onto a target, the harder some of your units hit and the more energy you get back. Very few creatures can apply those stacks in bulk, which is why the same names keep turning up in fire teams.

This guide covers the stackers (Infergon and Magmarex), what the stacks give you back in EP, what happens when you push an Alpha Aniimo past 10 stacks, and how Spark Elf turns all of it into a bigger fire damage number for the whole team.

Infergon and Magmarex: the units that stack fire debuffs

Infergon applies multiple stacks of fire debuff, and it is one of the few units that can. That scarcity is the point. If your fire team has no reliable way to build stacks, nothing else in this guide works.

Infergon is also more than a setup piece. It fits well in a fire team and can serve as its main damage dealer against bosses, so you are not spending a slot on a pure enabler.

Magmarex is a burn unit that does the same job from a different angle. It applies multiple stacks of a fire debuff to enemies, and those stacks raise its own attack damage. Magmarex gets stronger the longer it keeps a target burning, which makes it a natural partner for anything else that wants the stack count high.

Turning stacks into energy with Phantom Barrage

Stacks are not only a damage multiplier. Phantom Barrage recovers energy based on the fire debuff stacks on its target: about four energy per stack, up to a cap of 37 energy.

That changes how you time it. Fired into a target with only a stack or two, Phantom Barrage gives back very little. Fired after Infergon or Magmarex has built the target up, it refunds a real chunk of energy, which gets your next big skill out sooner. Let the stackers work first, then cash in.

37

Max energy from Phantom Barrage

Phantom Barrage gives back about four energy for each fire debuff stack on the target, and the most it can return is 37.

Overflowing fire stacks on Alpha Aniimo

Alpha Aniimo have one more interaction worth knowing. Stack 10 or more fire debuffs on an Alpha such as Alpha Erizal and it enters an overflowing debuff state, called Anomaly Spark. While it lasts, each additional fire debuff stack makes the Alpha drop an energy orb that restores EP.

So against an Alpha, the stacks keep paying after the threshold. A team with two stackers can push past 10 and then keep feeding the orbs, on top of whatever Phantom Barrage refunds. The wider Alpha fight (breaks, snares and the rest) has its own guide; for fire teams, the thing to remember is that 10 stacks is where the EP starts flowing.

10

Fire stacks to make an Alpha overflow

With 10 or more fire debuffs on it, an Alpha enters the overflowing state, and every stack after that drops an energy orb that restores EP.

How Spark Elf multiplies fire damage

Spark Elf is the support that makes a fire team's numbers climb. It brings fire damage from several directions.

Its passive trait grants the party 15% extra fire damage, with no input from you. Its core skill, Inspiration, increases the team's fire damage by 16%. Its ultimate applies a buff to the team that boosts Fire-type members when it lands.

The important part is that Spark Elf's buffs can be stacked, which brings the team's Fire damage bonus up to 70%. That ceiling only means something if the rest of the team is actually dealing fire damage, which is why Spark Elf sits best beside Infergon and Magmarex rather than in a mixed team where half the slots would not benefit.

70%

Top team Fire damage bonus from stacked Spark Elf buffs

Spark Elf's buffs stack, so keeping them up can raise the team's Fire damage bonus as high as 70%.

Where to start

Build around a stacker first: Infergon if you want it to double as your boss damage, Magmarex if you want a burn unit that scales with its own stacks. Save Phantom Barrage until the stacks are up, push Alphas past 10 to start the energy orbs, and add Spark Elf so every fire hit benefits from a team bonus that can reach 70%.
