How Prismatic Energy triggers Prismana spawns

A full regional energy bar is the one Prismana spawn that is guaranteed. Here is what fills it, what wastes your effort, and the chance triggers along the way.

The short version

  1. Each region has its own prismatic energy bar, and energy earned in one region never carries over to another.
  2. Filling a region's bar completely guarantees a Prismana Flow and that region's Prismana Aniimo, and the game marks where it spawned.
  3. Catching Aniimo fills the bar, including mass-surging Aniimo during Vein Abundance and Lucky catches. Defeating nurture or surge spawns adds nothing.
  4. Early spawns before the bar is full are only a random chance, and exactly how those chance triggers work is not settled.
  5. A prismatic crystal or rainbow stone can force a Prismana spawn in a zone, such as at the Breezy Plains tree.

If you want a Prismana Aniimo, the bar is the thing to watch. Every region keeps a prismatic energy bar, and filling it to the top is the one route to a Prismana spawn that always pays out. Everything else in this system is either a way to fill that bar faster or a roll of the dice.

This page covers how the bar fills, what does not count toward it, the chance triggers that can spawn a Prismana early, and the item that skips the wait. The weather itself and nurture farming have their own guides on this site, so they get a sentence each here.

How Aniimo Prismana spawns are guaranteed

Capturing Aniimo gives you prismatic energy, which raises a region's Bloom or Prismana level. That energy goes into a bar that belongs to the region you are standing in. Each region tracks its own, and energy does not transfer between them. Ten catches spread over three regions are worth less to you than ten catches in one.

When the bar fills completely, it triggers a Prismana flow or explosion. That spawns the region's designated Prismana Aniimo variant and marks its location on your map. The game also reveals a path to it automatically, so you do not have to search the region once the bar pops.

The important word is guaranteed. A Prismana Aniimo spawns once its area's bar is full, and at that point the spawn is certain. A Prismana Flow event also guarantees that the area's corresponding Prismana Aniimo appears. Because each region has a designated variant, the region you fill decides which Prismana you get.

From capture to a guaranteed Prismana
  1. Capture Aniimo in a regionEach capture adds prismatic energy to that region's bar.
  2. Fill the regional barEach region has its own bar and energy does not transfer between regions.
  3. Prismana Flow startsA full bar triggers the Prismana Flow weather event.
  4. Prismana spawnsThe region's Prismana Aniimo is guaranteed to appear and its location is marked.

What fills the prismatic energy bar

Catching is the engine. Any Aniimo you capture in a region adds to that region's bar, and that includes the mass-surging Aniimo that show up during Vein Abundance and Lucky catches. Vein Abundance is worth staying in a region for, since it puts more catchable Aniimo in front of you at once.

Lucky Strikes matter at the top of the bar. When a strike fills the gauge completely, Prismana weather starts and that area's Prismatic Aniimo, also called Prismana, spawn immediately and are guaranteed to appear.

The catch is that catching is the only thing that counts for these spawns. Aniimo that appear from nurturing or from wild surges must be captured, not defeated. Defeating them adds no Vein Essence and no progress toward the zone's Prismana. If you are in the habit of fighting everything that spawns near a bloom, stop, and throw a capsule instead. Nurturing as a farming method is covered in its own guide.

Chance spawns before the bar is full

A full bar is the guarantee. A partial bar can still get lucky. Turning in energy early can produce a spawn, but only as a random chance, while a full bar always delivers a Prismana Flow. Gaining prismatic energy also has a random chance to trigger an energy surge, which fills the meter instantly and spawns a Prismana Aniimo on the spot.

How these chance triggers actually work is not settled. Prismana Flow is tied to prismatic vein energy, either building up as that energy accumulates or rolling a fixed chance on every gain. It is also given as a flat base chance of about 3% on each nurture attempt, catch attempt or bloom release, regardless of how full the regional bar is. On top of that, a Lucky Strike catch carries a 0.6% chance to trigger a Flow immediately.

Treat all of this as a bonus, not a plan. You cannot steer a random roll, and you can steer a bar. Keep catching in one region and any early spawn is a free extra on the way to the one you are owed.

Full bar or early chance

Full energy bar

  • Guarantees a Prismana Flow
  • Spawns that region's Prismana Aniimo
  • Reveals a path to the creature

Partial bar

  • An early spawn is only a random chance
  • A surge can instantly fill the meter
  • Nothing is guaranteed

Forcing a spawn with a prismatic crystal

If you do not want to wait for the bar, there is an item route. A prismatic crystal or rainbow stone can be used to force a Prismana spawn in a zone, such as at the Breezy Plains tree.

This ties into the other open question about Prismana Flow. Its trigger is given both as gathering enough Prismana energy in a zone and as activating a Prismana Crystal, which starts the event in that area immediately. Both routes exist in the game you are playing; which one counts as the main trigger is the part that is not settled. In practice the crystal is the shortcut and the bar is the default.

What Prismana Flow does once it starts

Prismana Flow is a weather event and an environmental condition, brought about through weather manipulation. While it is active, rare Prismana Aniimo variants can spawn in the region, and Aniimo exposed to it transform into special forms. How weather shapes spawns in general is covered in the weather and time of day guide.

For a Prismana hunter, the useful part is simple. However the Flow starts, it guarantees the area's own Prismana Aniimo, and a full bar is the dependable way to start it.

Where to start

Choose the region whose Prismana you want and do all your catching there. Capture surge and nurture spawns rather than defeating them, and fill the bar for a guaranteed spawn. Early spawns are luck, so take them when they happen. If you hold a prismatic crystal or rainbow stone, you can skip the wait altogether.
