How Weather and Time of Day Affect Spawns in Aniimo

Wild spawns in Aniimo are filtered by the clock and the sky as much as by the map, and only one weather state is yours to switch on.

The short version

  1. Location is only the first filter: spawns and the forms they appear in also depend on weather, other environmental conditions and the in-game time of day.
  2. The day/night cycle in Idyll changes the roster. Some Aniimo are only encountered after dark, and some species have a distinct Nighttime Form.
  3. Certain forms appear exclusively during specific weather such as rain or thunderstorms.
  4. Weather forms change typing, not just looks: Scorchhowl's Thunderstorm Form adds Lightning to Fire and unlocks Lightning attacks its base form cannot use.
  5. Prismana Flow is the only weather state you can currently trigger, and weather control unlocks at 60 percent completion of a region's bloom graph.
  6. Each region has its own assigned Prismana form, so where you trigger the event decides what you can catch.

The overworld does not hand you a fixed encounter list. Which Aniimo appear, and which form they appear in, is influenced by location, weather, other environmental conditions, and the in-game time of day and day-night cycle. Standing in the right place is the start of the job, not the end of it.

That matters most when you are hunting something specific. If a creature is not showing up, the answer is often the hour or the sky rather than the zone. Weather in particular influences the appearance of unique Aniimo, so the conditions you would normally wait out are the ones worth playing through.

You can steer one part of this and only one. The rest you plan around.

The world checks more than the map

Which wild Aniimo appear changes with the in-game day-night cycle, the weather, and other special natural phenomena. Two things follow from that.

First, the roster in front of you is temporary. The same patch of ground can offer a different set of encounters an hour later, so an empty sweep tells you less than it feels like it does.

Second, conditions do not only swap one species for another. They also change the form a creature shows up in, which is why the same name can sit in your dex twice over with different typing behind it.

Special phenomena count too. Umbral Aniimo can appear during wild ecosystem surges, so a surge is worth walking into rather than around.

Night is a different roster in Idyll

The day/night cycle in Idyll changes which wild creatures spawn. Some Aniimo are encountered only after dark, and no amount of searching in daylight will turn them up.

Certain species also have a distinct Nighttime Form. That is the same creature wearing a different shape because of the hour, so a dex gap you assumed was a rare spawn may just be a species you have only ever met in the afternoon.

The useful part of night is that it costs you nothing. It arrives on its own. Weather does not.

Rain and thunderstorms rewrite typing

Certain Aniimo forms appear exclusively during specific weather conditions such as rain or thunderstorms. These are not cosmetic variants.

Scorchhowl has a Thunderstorm Form, a Fire/Lightning variant with lightning-based attacks. It adds the Lightning element alongside Fire and gives Scorchhowl access to Lightning attacks, which its base Fire form does not have. That is a coverage change, and it is the clearest argument for hunting in bad weather rather than logging off during it.

Thornblade's Thunderstorm form is Grass and Electric, and it is one of its four listed forms alongside the Basic, Prismana and Towerwood forms. Luminelle has a Rainstorm form. Rainstorm and Thunderstorm are named separately, so treat them as separate conditions rather than one wet-weather bucket.

All of this sits apart from the Prismana system. Aniimo can feature weather-based forms and other variations separate from Prismana variants, so a creature's form list can have several routes into it.

Scorchhowl's Thunderstorm Form adds the Lightning element alongside Fire and grants Lightning attacks its base Fire form does not have.

The one weather you can switch on

Weather control is a region reward. Upgrading a region's bloom branch unlocks the ability to change the weather, with Prismana weather control becoming available at 60 percent completion of the bloom graph. Until then you are a passenger.

Nurturing, unlocked at a region's Branch, builds Prismatic Energy. That energy makes Prismana Aniimo appear for capture and can bring on Prismana Flow, which is the only weather state players are currently able to trigger. Everything else on this page is something you wait for.

While the rare Prismana Flow weather is active in a region, Prismana-form Aniimo appear in the wild, and each region has its own assigned Prismana form. So the region you do the work in decides which Prismana form you can catch, and finishing one bloom graph does not cover the rest.

How the event actually starts is not settled. It is given both as gathering enough Prismana energy in a zone, and as using a Prismana crystal, which starts the event immediately. If you are holding a crystal, that is the path with no waiting attached.

60 percent

Bloom graph completion for Prismana weather control

Upgrading a region's bloom branch to that point is what unlocks the ability to change the weather.

Where to start

Check the clock and the sky before you change zones. Night and storms arrive on their own schedule, so build around them; Prismana Flow is the one condition you can call, and only in a region whose bloom graph you have pushed to 60 percent.
