How to Choose Which Aniimo to Keep

The three readings you take at camp

Before you register or release anything, inspect its Alpha status, whether it has a weather or special form, and its potential grade. That is the whole check. It takes seconds, and it is the difference between a roster you built and a roster that happened to you.

The inventory is built around the same idea. You can filter by potential grade, by Alpha status, and by Prismana status, which means the sort you do at camp lines up with the sort you did in the field. If you are running a cull, filter first and then work the list.

Potential is not the same as rarity

Alpha status does not ensure a high-potential Aniimo. An Alpha can roll badly. Treat the Alpha tag as one line on the sheet, not a verdict.

The reverse holds too. Creatures with low potential can still hold value, so a poor potential grade is a reason to look closer rather than a reason to auto-release. Two Aniimo of the same species can be worth different amounts purely because their potential differs, and that gap is the thing you are actually pricing.

One more distinction worth learning early: the sparkling potential aura is not a shiny variant. Same glow instinct, different mechanic. Do not release something because you decided the sparkle meant nothing, and do not hoard something because you decided it meant everything.

What makes two of the same species different

Base stats cover HP, Attack, Physical Defense, Regen, Magic Defense, and Break. That is the spread you compare across duplicates.

On top of that, each letter in a creature's personality type grants a small stat boost. Small, but it stacks across the letters, and it is why two members of the same species will not read identically even before potential enters the picture. When you are choosing between near-identical catches, this is usually what breaks the tie.

Your starters, and why the first one reads oddly

The Emberpup handed to you at the start of the game has poor stats. Both starter Aniimo, meanwhile, possess maximum potential for combat rating.

Those two facts sit together on purpose. Current stats and potential are separate readings, and the starter is the clearest demonstration of that in the game. Do not judge it on the stat line alone.

For wild catches, the method is blunter. Catch the same Aniimo repeatedly until one comes out with good stats. There is no shortcut here and no reason to settle on the first one.

Two ways to skip the grind

Aniimo spawned via cultivation have elevated odds for higher Potential Values. If you want good rolls without catching the same creature all afternoon, that is where the better odds live.

The Advanced Companion Handbook is the other route. Its rewards include a perfect-potential Prismana Aniimo egg, evolution materials, and other items. A guaranteed perfect-potential egg is a different category of thing from a lucky catch, so it is worth knowing that reward exists before you spend hours chasing an equivalent in the wild.

Where to start

Read Alpha status, form, and potential grade on everything before it leaves your hands. Use the inventory filters to sort in bulk. Then lean on cultivation and the Handbook rather than the spawn pool, because that is where the odds are better.
