How Aniimo Personalities and Psych Fruit Work

Personality letters decide how an Aniimo's stats grow, Psych Fruit is how you change them, and Attribute Rank is the part you are stuck with.

The short version

  1. Every Aniimo has six attributes that determine its strength: HP, Attack, Physical Defense, Regen, Magic Defense and Break.
  2. Personality is a letter-combination type based on MBTI profiles, and each letter grants a small stat boost, so it shapes both stat growth and distribution.
  3. A given letter confers the same bonuses on every species. An S on Magmarex is the same S anywhere else, and S provides stat bonuses to damage.
  4. Psych Fruit is consumed to reroll or alter an Aniimo's personality.
  5. The game marks two attributes as its recommended stats to raise, in priority order as 1st and 2nd, and a thumbs up icon marks a favorable stat.
  6. Attribute Rank runs Common, Good, Elite, Perfect, and Potential is fixed at capture, so a better-statted Aniimo comes from catching duplicates.

Two Aniimo of the same species, same level, will not have the same stats. That is by design, and most of the gap comes from two systems stacked on top of each other: the personality letters the creature is born with, and the Attribute Rank its stats were appraised at when you caught it.

Personality is the part you can change. Each Aniimo carries a letter-combination personality type modelled on MBTI profiles, and every letter in that code pays out a small stat boost. Psych Fruit is what you spend to reroll or alter it.

This page covers what the letters do, how to read the stat screen well enough to know whether your letters are the ones you want, and where the reroll stops helping.

Aniimo stats: the six you are actually reading

Every Aniimo has six attributes that determine its strength. The base stats are HP, Attack, Physical Defense, Regen, Magic Defense and Break.

The stat screen does some of the thinking for you. Each Aniimo has two attributes the game marks as its recommended stats to raise, presented in priority order as 1st and 2nd. A thumbs up icon signifies a favorable stat. Between those two markers you can tell at a glance what a creature is supposed to be good at and whether it actually is.

Attribute Rank, lowest grade to highest
  1. CommonThe lowest appraised quality grade, so the lowest stats at a given level and personality.
  2. GoodOne grade up, with higher stats than a Common Aniimo of the same level and personality.
  3. EliteHigher again. The grade is the appraised quality tied to each stat's Potential.
  4. PerfectThe top grade. Potential is fixed at capture, so this is decided the moment you catch it.

Personality is a letter code, and every letter pays

Each Aniimo has a letter-combination personality type based on MBTI profiles. That code is not flavour text. Personality determines stat growth and distribution, with each letter granting a small stat boost, which is why two individuals of the same species end up with different numbers.

Every Aniimo possesses distinct personalities that grant different buffs, so the code is the difference between a creature that leans into its recommended stats and one that spreads its growth somewhere you were not planning to use.

The same letter does the same thing on every Aniimo

This is the part that makes personality learnable. Each personality letter grants the same stat bonus on every species. A given letter confers the same bonuses on Magmarex as it does on any other Aniimo, so once you know what a letter does, you know what it does everywhere.

The S trait is the clearest example. S provides stat bonuses to damage, and it provides them on whatever creature is carrying it. You never have to relearn a letter per species. You learn it once and read every stat screen faster afterwards.

What Psych Fruit changes

Psych Fruit is consumed to reroll or alter an Aniimo's personality. That is the only lever you have over the letters.

Because the letters drive stat growth and distribution, the reroll is worth spending on an Aniimo whose personality is pulling against its recommended stats. A damage-oriented creature whose 1st and 2nd priorities point at offence wants letters that pay into that, and S is the obvious one to want. Check the thumbs up icons and the priority order first, then decide whether the current code is already doing the job. If it is, the fruit is better saved.

What Psych Fruit cannot change

Personality is only half of the stat picture. An Aniimo's stats also scale with its Attribute Rank, the appraised quality grade tied to each stat's Potential, which runs Common, Good, Elite and Perfect. A higher-ranked Aniimo has higher stats than a lower-ranked one at the same level and on the same personality.

Potential is fixed at the moment of capture. No fruit moves it. The usual way to get a better-statted version of a species is to catch duplicates and keep the one that appraised well.

So the order matters. Catch until the ranks are acceptable, then spend Psych Fruit on the keeper. Rerolling the personality of a creature you are going to replace is fruit you do not get back.

What a Psych Fruit reaches, and what it does not

Psych Fruit changes this

  • Personality, the letter combination type based on MBTI profiles.
  • Consumed to reroll or alter that personality.
  • Personality sets stat growth and distribution, and each letter grants a small stat boost.

Psych Fruit cannot change this

  • Potential, which is fixed at the moment of capture.
  • Attribute Rank, the appraised quality grade tied to each stat's Potential.
  • Catching duplicates of the same species stays the usual way to get better stats.

Where to start

Read the letters before you invest in an Aniimo. Psych Fruit fixes a bad personality; nothing fixes a bad Attribute Rank, so the reroll is the last step of tuning a keeper, not a rescue for a weak catch.
