How to earn and spend Voxel Coins in Aniimo

Voxel Coins come from a free daily claim and a capped event. Spending 1,000 of them in the right shops gets you a second Coil Strike Coupon each week.

The short version

  1. You can claim free Voxel Coins every day in Astra, and the Tea Party / coffee shop event adds more up to a daily cap.
  2. Voxel Coins buy cosmetics and emotes in Astra, and the Cornet Shop offers four new Voxel Coin items every day.
  3. Spending 1,000 Voxel Coins in designated shops grants a second weekly Coil Strike Coupon, so plan your weekly spending around that threshold.
  4. The Mysterious Vendor refreshes at 4:00 AM server time with discounted catching items, upgrade materials, training supplies and a limited stock of growth fruits, and it sometimes has Sparkling Cubes.
  5. The daily trader sells up to two Vein Essences per day. Vein Essence buys extra Aniimo Discovery searches once your free ones run out.

Voxel Coins are Astra's everyday currency. You won't get them in big lumps. They come in small amounts every day, and several of the shops that take them also restock every day. So what matters is having a routine, not grinding once.

This guide covers where the coins come from, where they're best spent, and the other daily vendors and event currencies in Astra that sit alongside them and are easy to mix up.

Where Voxel Coins come from

The easiest source is also free. You can claim Voxel Coins every day in Astra. It takes seconds, and every day you skip is income you don't get back.

The Tea Party / coffee shop event pays Voxel Coins too, but there is a daily cap on what it gives. Play it until you hit the cap, then stop. Anything past the cap earns you nothing, and that time is better spent elsewhere.

What to spend them on

In Astra, Voxel Coins buy cosmetics and emotes. The Cornet Shop is the main counter. It refreshes daily with four items priced in Voxel Coins, so the stock you see today is gone tomorrow. Check it once a day, and don't treat any one day's selection as your only chance.

The spending threshold is the thing most worth planning around. Spend 1,000 Voxel Coins in designated shops and you get a second weekly Coil Strike Coupon. If you plan to spend coins anyway, push your total over that line within the week and collect the coupon along with whatever you bought.

The Coil Strike Club shop has its own counter where Star Sand is bought with Voxel tokens. The Mementos shop in Astra is where you buy gifts of affection.

If you're rerolling a transmogrification or cosmetic slot, remember that locking a slot doubles the cost of every reroll after it. Lock only when you really want to keep what's in the slot.

Astra's daily vendors

Several vendors in Astra restock every day. Walk past all of them as part of the same routine.

The Mysterious Vendor turns up daily with a rotating inventory that refreshes every day at 4:00 AM server time. Its stock is discounted and changes each day. It usually covers catching items, upgrade materials, training supplies and a limited stock of growth fruits. Now and then it carries rare items such as Sparkling Cubes, and on those days it's worth coming back to.

Weston also refreshes his stock daily with different items. The daily trader vendor sells up to two Vein Essences per day, and Vein Essence ties straight into the Aniimo Discovery event.

The rotating inventory refreshes every day at 4:00 AM server time, so check back after the reset for new discounted goods.

Vein Essence and Aniimo Discovery searches

Your first three search attempts in the Aniimo Discovery event are free. Free attempts replenish over time, but they don't build up past the limit and they don't carry over. If you leave them unspent, they're wasted. Use them whenever they're full.

Once your free daily attempts are gone, Vein Essence buys extra searches. The daily trader's cap of two per day makes that the bottleneck. Buying both every day is how you stay stocked for Discovery.

The first three search attempts are free and unused ones do not carry over, so use them before spending Vein Essence on extra attempts.

Currencies that are not Voxel Coins

Several other systems have their own money, and none of it is spent in the Voxel Coin shops.

Egg Heist uses an exclusive currency called Eggshell Coins for its shop. You earn them by selling the items and resources you extract, and there's a bulk sell-all interface for that. Extracting means making the risky trip back to an escape boat. A Pathfinder can extract safely on their own, without waiting for the team, once one personal objective is done: either personally submitting one Aniimo Egg or personally collecting a set number of Eggshell Coins. That number isn't published, and it was cut significantly in the February 4 update. Runs also award flames and shards as you progress.

Event stores have their own currencies. In the Walking with Irisalis Legendary Journey event store, Glimmering Driftshadow costs two petals each. Reaching the final server progression milestone unlocks the Fire Sprout Biscuit recipe in the event supply shop. The Spark Elf statue in Horizon Square gives event sparks and points when you interact with it. The daily limited supply pack costs 50 energy, not coins.

Where to start

Do Voxel Coins as a daily loop. Claim the free coins, play the Tea Party event up to its cap, and check the Cornet Shop and the Mysterious Vendor after the 4:00 AM refresh. Buy both of the daily trader's Vein Essences. Plan your spending so you pass 1,000 coins in the designated shops each week and pick up the second Coil Strike Coupon.
