Research tokens, Vein Essence and Astra vendors
Aniimo pays you in half a dozen currencies and spends them in half a dozen places. Here is where Vein Essence, Report Cards and Polaris badges come from, and why the Astra vendor is worth a daily look.
The short version
- Vein Essence has many sources and one main sink: nurture, which is free three attempts a day and paid after that.
- You can buy Vein Essence in the Stamp Shop with real-world money or currency, so nothing forces you to grind it.
- A mysterious vendor appears daily in Astra with a rotating inventory of discounted catching items, upgrade materials and training supplies.
- Growth fruits at that vendor are limited stock, so the visit is worth making before you buy the same goods elsewhere.
- Report Cards come from Outpost terminals, side missions, activities and open-world duels; Polaris badges go to major research breakthroughs.
- Daily check-in at the student check-in or the Spark Elf statue grants 10 Firebolt points for almost no effort.
In Aniimo, the resources you gather while playing are spent across several different upgrade systems. That sounds harmless until you are twenty hours in and holding a pile of something you cannot spend well, because you did not know what it was for when you picked it up.
Spending rare resources without an understanding of the game's economy risks misallocating them on suboptimal investments. That is the whole reason this page exists. Not to tell you the optimal build, but to tell you which currency drains into which system, so a decision you make on day two does not quietly cost you on day twenty.
Three things carry most of the weight early: Vein Essence, the research chain that runs through Outpost terminals, and the vendor who shows up in Astra every day.
Vein Essence has many sources and one hungry sink
Vein Essence arrives from more places than almost anything else you will hold. Open-world gathering produces it. Elite Training produces it. Catch milestones and nurture branching produce it, and so does the battle pass. Progressing Catch Completion pays it out as well, which is covered properly in the Catch Completion guide on this site.
You can also simply buy it. The in-game Stamp Shop sells Vein Essence for real-world money or currency. Whether that is worth doing is your call, but it is useful to know the option exists, because it means the supply is never truly capped by how much you play.
Where it all goes is nurture. You get three free bloom nurture attempts each day. Past that, further attempts cost currency, and that currency is given as both Vein Essences and Prismatic Energy Shards. Nurturing blooms or branches keeps consuming Vein Essence for as long as you keep pushing. The nurture guide covers that system in full; the point here is the shape of it. Many faucets, one drain, and the drain does not stop asking.
Legendary tokens work differently and are worth mentioning so you do not confuse the two. They are used to craft a personal legendary Anipod, and you obtain them naturally through open-world exploration, catching and main story progression. The Legendary Aniimo guide has the detail.

The mysterious vendor in Astra, and why you check daily
A mysterious vendor appears daily in Astra with a rotating inventory. What is on the counter is discounted catching items, upgrade materials and training supplies, including a limited stock of growth fruits.
Both halves of that matter. Rotating means today's stock is not a standing offer, so the visit is a habit rather than an errand you can save for the weekend. Limited stock on the growth fruits means the good stuff runs out even on a day it appears. And discounted means this is the place where things you were going to buy anyway cost less, which is exactly the kind of saving that compounds without you noticing.
Tumbler Pods are a clean example of how to think about it. You can buy them from Joph, also called Jeff, and occasionally from the mysterious vendor. Joph is the dependable source. The vendor is the opportunistic one. Check Astra first, buy from Joph when the vendor has moved on to something else.
Report Cards, Analog level and Polaris badges
The research side of the economy runs on a different currency. Report Cards are earned by reporting caught Aniimo at Outpost terminals, and also from side missions, activities and open-world duels. That breadth is useful: if you are not in the mood to grind terminals, the other three routes still pay.
Catching and submitting Aniimo at the base terminal awards research points to increase your Analog level, and currency alongside them. So a single submission is doing two jobs at once, which is why reporting is worth doing steadily rather than in one enormous batch when you remember. The Outpost reporting guide goes into the specifics.
At the top of that ladder sit Polaris badges, awarded to individuals who achieve major research breakthroughs. They are not something you farm. They are a marker that the research work went somewhere.
Free rewards you should not be leaving on the table
Some of the economy costs you nothing but attention.
Daily check-in at the student check-in or the Spark Elf statue grants 10 Firebolt points. It takes seconds and it happens every day, so it is the single highest return on effort in the game. Fold it into the same trip as the Astra vendor and you have a two-stop morning routine.
Two progression rewards are worth knowing about in advance, because they change what you might want to spend on. Attaining account level 40 and Junior Wayfarer rank rewards one free Prismana Aniimo. Reaching Junior Traveler rank or Pathfinder level 40 awards the choice of a regional Prismana spirit. Knowing those are coming is the difference between a pleasant surprise and a wasted investment in the same slot.

Where to start
Treat the Astra vendor and the daily check-in as a routine, not a task. Keep reporting Aniimo at terminals as you catch them rather than saving it up. And before you burn Vein Essence on nurture attempts past the daily free three, be sure you know what else was asking for it.
